Hey ladies! So I’m a bit of a tomboy, but I’m trying to pick a dress for my elopement. I’m wanting to go blue, and love the ombre effect. Now, I’m a skinny girl of average height, pretty flat any way you look, with a bit of a butt. I love this one dress, but I’m worried it’ll look like a tent on me since I don’t have many curves to fill it out! What do you think, pretty or parachute? Thanks so much!

Sorry, but i don’t even think that dress is flattering on the model so personally, i wouldn’t bother with it if it were me.

Paris Hilton is skinny and wears maxi dresses all the time. The dress you posted lacks some shape at the décolletage and is not very flattering. I like the color though.

Ha–I always felt maxi dresses were made for skinny girls–they make you look like a tall drink of water!
But just because you’re thin doesn’t mean that you don’t have a shape and your proportions do matter. For a maxi-dress, it really depends on the fabric and the cut, so sadly, there’s no real way of saying for sure whether this will look good on you or not. If the shipping’s free, order it and see.

I was always under the impression that maxi dresses worked best on skinny girls. They never worked for me even though I’m super tall but just not skinny LOL. This dress in particular though isn’t fabulous. But you should check out some department stores! They generally have a ton to choose from.

Maxis are made for your body type, but get one that is fitted. If it looks bad on the model there’s no way it’ll look good on anyone. Thats the rule I follow anyway. I’d normally recommend a belt but on ombre that wouldn’t really work. Try some department stores, I think you’d have good luck there.

I think the ombre is beautiful on this, and that the shape could be “flattering” depending on the look you want.
I m 5’10” and shy away from maxis typically because I feel like a giant column of fabric coming at someone, so I think having a slender build and being of average height means you would probably look great in maxis.
I do think this one is pretty in a very etheral way, which is a look you may want. Not every girl wants to get married in something fitted, and that is perfectly ok. I agree that if the shipping/return process seems free or at least simple, then order it and try it on. It could be just the look you want and are going for!

I actually think that a dress that style looks the best on a body type like you described! That’s just how I feel.

I love the colour but it’s got no shape and will look like a tent I’m afraid.

I’m flat and skinny, and I can’t pull off this type of a maxi dress. Only if there’s some sort of line right under the boobs, would I be able to show any shape at all.

I saw this dress on Modcloth the other day, and your post immediately made me think of it.

i love maxi dresses and im a size 0, that being said, i wear a little figure hugging dresses, tight around the waist at least and have the neck nice and low. As long as the waist is tight in some way, maybe a band or belt? it’ll look good.

I think babydoll or bodycon maxi dresses are most flattering on skinny girls. There is a style for everyone!

I disagree..I don’t like the way maxis look on most skinny girls because it’s a shapeless sillhouette. I actually think a woman with curves pulls it off better. That being said: I don’t think this dress is flattering in general.

Actually curves wont fill out that dress as it is meant to be worn loose, with smaller chest you will get LESS of a tent effect and more of a flowy effect. I actually like dresses like in in a casual setting….if the shipping is free heck it out, make sure the fabric is sily and light and moves well…if it’s stiff and skratch it wont flow right. This particular dress was made for slender figures…
