Yay for May 2011 brides! It’s nice to see where other May 2011 ladies are with their planning, and also reminds me of what I should be doing soon!

Here’s what we’ve accomplished:

  • Reserved ceremony location;
  • Reserved reception location (includes catering, booze, table, chairs, etc.);
  • Booked photographer;
  • Put in our cake order;
  • Purchased wedding attire (dresses, shoes, jewellery, hair piece, veil);
  • Purchased bridesmaid’s dresses;
  • Purchased MOB dress;
  • Purchased bridal party gifts; and
  • Purchased invitations.

Here is what still needs to be done (in the somewhat near future):

  • Book florist (we’re using a family friend, so it’s just a matter of picking our flowers);
  • Book limo service;
  • Start gift registry;
  • Begin looking for men’s attire;
  • Design Save-the-Dates (after engagement pictures); and
  • Research honeymoon.

EDIT: Need to book a DJ too! Whoops, keep forgetting that one!

Geez…you guys are way ahead of me! I’ve been engaged since December 08 and I have….

  • Booked the ceremony
  • booked the reception
  • bought the dress
  • narrowed down to two caterers–probably…
  • decided on a DJ (haven’t booked yet)
  • designed Save the Dates
  • worked on the wedding website

I need to do in the near future

  • Book the DJ
  • Book the caterer
  • FIND A FREAKING PHOTOGRAPHER (they’re so expensive!!!)
  • officially ask my BM’s to be my BM’s (and by that I mean decide on another 1-2 girls…)
  • find a baker…maybe? I may be doing the cake myself
  • Reserve a block of hotel rooms (we’re pretty sure we have the hotel figured out but I want some opinions from the OOTers first)
  • Find shoes and jewelry
  • Pick out a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress (my MoH’s want to know!)

Now I feel overwhelmed 🙁

Hi Ladies! Here’s a new update from me.

What we have done:

  • Booked reception site (restaurant – so no need for a caterer!)
  • Booked church for ceremony
  • Booked photographer
  • Had engagement shoot
  • Bought wedding bands
  • Bought dress, shoes
  • Bought invitations (semi-DIY from Michaels)
  • Chose (and asked) bridesmaids
  • Completed guest list
  • Basically chose cake (my mom has a cake business, she’s doing whatever she wants lol)

What is coming down the pipe:

  • Gather quotes from florists – decide if we want to DIY (we are DIY-ing centerpieces, I just don’t know about bouquets)
  • contact organist at church to decide on music
  • Go bridesmaid dress shopping!
  • Choose GMs and best man
  • Design and send Save-The-Date Cards
  • Buy groom’s suit
  • Collect jars/containers for candy buffet
  • Start registry
  • Gather guests addresses
  • DIY church decorations (probably tissue paper pomanders, and “reserved: signs”
  • Buy jewelry
  • Buy attendant gifts
  • Book hair and makeup (probably won’t/can’t do this until the new year)
  • Book hotel block

And I am sure I am missing stuff…

Well i feel as though i should be sharing all this completed tasks with my Fiance… he hasn’t totally absorbed the fact that many of this items are time sensitive!  We have about 50% of most things completed… but nothing entirely done!  I am jealous of your accomplished lists! (ps- i love lists)!

@danadelphia- are you getting married in the city (i assume no since i saw that you are renting a tent)…. i have tried to get quotes for room blocks and according to one brash and insensitive hotel employee- i was told that our date is the worst day to get married in Phila (as there are all the graduations that weekend)… lets just say that she helped light a fire under my rear end! but anywho- what has your experience been?

@pinkshoes: no you are fine. A lot of major things (venue, photog, caterer) do book up pretty far in advance though and most open their calendars up to a year in advance. So if you are set on having it in May, then I would start researching, visiting, talking with potential venues ASAP. Choose the venue FIRST, it sets the tone for the rest of your choices. (You could also technically choose your photographer first, but that’s up to you).
