@Marriedandlovingit:  Is there anything else you didn’t like about it other than how far away it is?

We lucked out–we live in the middle of our town and our hospital is only 1.1 miles away from us!

@Goldilocks1107:  I can’t believe it is so hot there! Here in western Washington we are having some of the worst weather EVER! It’s either constant rain, snow, or hail! UGH! (I guess I am not complaining though because I can’t even imagine showing my pregnancy bod in a tank top or shorts–I prefer to stay covered.)

@Marriedandlovingit:  πŸ™   I hate all the hospitals I’ve been to so far. This week I get to see the one we’re supposed to deliver at. I have a feeling hospitals are *always* disappointing. No one likes going to the hospital. I hope when you go, it’s a much better experience!

Our hospital is 35 minutes away, but maybe almost an hour in rush hour traffic. More coming home from work–and that would be awful because we’d be coming separately.

Here’s my most recent bump picture from a few minutes ago.

And… the crib (no changing pad yet, but mattress is there). Diapers in the top drawer and the picnic basket. We still have no sheets, no stroller/car seat, and only a few onesies. Eventually we’ll get things together. Still dealing with the accident crap. Sigh.  Glad we at least have enough to take care of baby if he’s early (we have lots of grownup sized towels and stuff).

@MissDareDevil:  It’s the hospital environment. I was so uncomfortable.

View original reply
@PasteMoo:  YES! Exactly what you said! I know I will dislike the other hospital we plan on touring, but I have nothing to lose at this point.

You’re looking really good!

I’m so sorry about the accident crap you’re having to deal with. I hope it all gets settled for you and your husband soon. Big hugs to you.

@Goldilocks1107:  Ugh yes, it is so hot here! I only have long sleeve maternity wear and jeans. I also have my regular sized yoga pants and tank tops that somewhat fit. I refuse to buy anymore maternity clothes though with 6 weeks left.

@Marriedandlovingit:  πŸ™‚ I am doing everything I can to try to fit into the clothes that don’t fit. 9 weeks to go for me, but we don’t have the spare $$ to throw around. AND I wear a lab coat at work, so I’m thinking, worse comes to worst and I just do laundry every day and wear the one T-shirt that seems like it should be long enough–that or start borrowing my husband’s T-shirts. πŸ˜›

You look great!

Good luck with the hospital tour!

PS my picture is 31 weeks. And I’m up 26 to 28 pounds at this point. Not what I wanted, but not as bad as I feared it could be when I was 25 weeks and really concerned about it.

@Marriedandlovingit:  What a lovely bump pic! You look so cute!

It has been so hot here too.  (Gone from my snow boots to sandals in one week!)  I am very happy to find that many of my summer T-shirts are very bump friendly. I’m not a fan of tight t-shirts in the summer, so I just happened to have picked up a lot of long, loose t’s in the last couple of years.  Horray!  ANd yoga bottoms it is.  I so find myself a little worried about the belly gap that might show if my shirt rides up, but I’ll just deal.  In an ideal world I would buy a bunch of capris and summer skirts with the secret belly panel.

Our hospital is 20 minutes away. But the other night when I had the kidney stone and I couldn’t even sit still in the vehicle from the pain and we had to keep stopping so I could thow up, it seemed like a million miles away and I couldn’t wait to get to the hospital.  I would say if you are going with the far-away hospital then don’t delay in leaving. I hope you like the closer hospital though.  More on hospitals:

From just having had such a recent hospital experience with the kidney stone, I say that it’s all about the nurses rather than the look of the space.  When i was in pain I could hardly see out of my eyeballs, but I was very aware of the way people treated me.  When I was down in emerg I felt totally neglected. I could have been in the nicest room but the way that I was minimally serviced and mostly left to wait by myself (well, with DH) for so long felt horrible.  But as soon as I went up the maternity ward for my overnight stay, the nurses were so sweet.  They gave me warm blankets when they saw me shaking; they offered me various things to drink; they talked to me about what I’m going through; they explained everything so nicely about what they were doing (fetal monitor, etc), and they checked on me all the time and let me know to not hesitate to page them.  I guess you could say that I got the best kind of hospital tour.  When we left, I felt really really good about returning to the maternity ward in a month and a half. Could you talk to other ladies about their personal experiences in the two different hospitals?

@PasteMoo:  Yay for your bump! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a bump pic from you.  Super cute!  Looks like a great set-up with all your baby stuff nice and close together and organized.

View original reply
@Ms Mini:  My baby was kicking at the contraction monitor too!  You’ve probably seen so many fetal monitors in your time no wonder you found it boring.  I was glued to it; totally fascinated by watching how what I felt showed up on the monitor.  I was also trying to ‘will’ baby to make some movement so we’d have an interesting chart.  πŸ™‚  Baby’s not even born and I’m already trying to make him do well on tests!

Today I’m officially feeling the ‘slow down’ before the birth since no one called me to be a supply teacher.  I have work tomorrow and Friday for sure, but I don’t think I’m going to seek out extra work.  Just going to let the slow-down happen.  Now, having said that, I have a new goal to do at least my prenatal yoga DVD, and maybe my prenatal workout too on any day that I don’t get work. I am ashamed to say that I have not used them yet AT ALL.

Hope everyone is off to a great start to the week.

I’ll post my 34 week bump tomorrow night or Wednesday. πŸ™‚ I turn 34 weeks tomorrow.

@cvbee:  We registered for the Medela Pump In Style Advanced (Tote) – my friends who have returned to work post-baby swear by it!  How cute that your dad is excited about the diapers!

@Ms Mini:  Hope your weekend shifts went OK – sorry about your blood pressure : (

@Goldilocks1107:  It’s been gorgeous in Boston, but not too hot – only 70’s.  Though my spring/summer maternity wardrobe is kind of sad.  My friend gave me a few bright spring open cardigans and I figure I’m just going to wear them with a white T underneath (obsessed with the Gap Vneck T’s – so soft and comfy!)  I can still wear pre-preg jersey dresses, though I basically just look like a whale in them!

@PasteMoo:  You are adorable!  And yes you DO look pregnant – I’m sure you’ve looked pregnant for awhile though : )  Exciting progress on your baby room!

@Marriedandlovingit:  You look great!  Your arms and legs have zero fat!  How did you manage that?!

Weekend was great – so productive!  We moved our office out of baby’s room and upstairs – in the process got rid of so much junk.  Baby’s room is officially ready for furniture delivery next weekend.  We also visited w/ my family and friends on Saturday – it was so much fun but the day was go-go-go – very exhausting.  Sunday we did more organizing, took advantage of beautiful weather and sat in the park, and went for a long walk (which was much harder than I anticipated!)  I feel like my body is finally telling me to “slow down” which I’m not very good at doing.

And here’s my 30 week shot from yesterday!  Up 21 pounds (no, my doctor’s scale was not wrong).  Since I’m one of the last May mamas, it got me thinking how some of you are so close to term…hard to believe!

Quick update: My OB just gave me a phone call to reply to the note I wrote him on Friday about my kidney issues all week. He says he thinks it’s not a kidney stone, but rather was a kink created in my ureter that made my kidney’s get backed up. Either way it hurt like hell and I’m glad that the pain hasn’t been back very badly all weekend. I’ll see the OB on Thursday for my regular 34 week appointment.

Great reading: Lucie’s List http://www.lucieslist.com/  I especially appreciated the ‘postpartum’. It’s entertaining and informative.  I say: a must-read. Give yourself some time and read on.

Well, I just had my BPP/cord dopplers/growth check. Baby is slipping in the percentiles, but is a respectable 5 pounds 2 pounces (2324 grams). That is the 41%ile based on 33 weeks gestation. That means that the high blood pressure is likely having an effect on babies growth, especially considering having GD should be making my baby get a lot bigger. His/her BPP score was 8/8 (perfect score, and got the full score in about 10 minutes, and they have 30 usually before they time them out). The tech didn’t tell me what the cord flow looked like however. Baby is certainly getting chubbier! I didn’t get any pictures today though πŸ™ The report will be to my OB later this week, but not in time for my appointment tomorrow.

@Goldilocks1107:  Thanks! Sounds like you are getting a ton of baby stuff done! You are making me feel like a slacker! We are hoping to be able to prep the nursery and maybe even paint it next weekend though!

@Marriedandlovingit:  I’m sorry that the hospital tour caused you stress. You look great though!

@PasteMoo:  You look so cute! Such a perfect basketball belly! Hopefully you can get the accident stuff sorted out soon.

@cvbee:  I hope you are enjoying your slow-down and that your kidney pain subsides! I think you are right, being around the equiptment all the time takes some of the magic out of it (LOL). I sometimes wonder how my perception of the pregnancy would be different if I didn’t work where I work, I think my work experience makes me incredibly relaxed about everything (maybe too much so LOL).

@winniewolf:  You had a busy weekend! I am hoping next weekend (when I am off) we can get a ton of stuff done! My work weekend was good, it was super slow at work, so I had a lot of time to relax and put my feet up (which helped my Bridal Party a bit).

@Ms Mini:  Thank you, ladies!

@PasteMoo:  That sounds similar to where I am at! I keep looking at my stretchy shorts, and there are maybe a couple of pairs that will work for now. I have a million other pairs that make my muffin tops spill out, which isn’t attractive! The pair I wore in the latest bump pic  was too big for me pre-pregnancy. I’m wearing another pair today that barely fit, but they are good for now.

@winniewolf:  You look fantastic! Great news about the nursery!

My pic must be deceptive! My arms and face have puffed out. My thighs are way bigger than they used to be as well. It’s making me a little self-conscious, but we are almost at the end!

@cvbee:  That sounds so painful! Sorry you had to go through that πŸ™

@Ms Mini:  5 lbs, 2 oz sounds good at 33 weeks gestation!

So, I called the other hospital to schedule a tour. They don’t have their next tours until next Thursday, which is cutting it way too close for me. I’m about to just suck it up and deliver at the hospital far away from us. I hate the thought of it. At the end of the day though, I know our baby will be in good hands.

@Ms Mini:  5’3 is awesome!  Do you know when I was born (39 weeks) I was 5’7?!?  I have no idea how big baby winnie is – I’m measuring “on” but no one has said anything about how big he is or how much he weighs.  No ultrasound since 19w, so no idea!

@Marriedandlovingit:  You seriously look all belly!  I don’t dare wear shorts b/c of all the cellulite!

@cvbee:  I hope this means you won’t have any more episodes this week.

@winniewolf:  I would loooove to know how much our little guy weighs too! I’m curious if our babies will be similar to our weight at birth.

I have cellulite too, so you’re not alone! I wish I was all belly :). You look fantastic, and I think you are going to bounce back super quick to your pre-pregnancy size shortly after you give birth.

I forgot to add, has anyone had a stinging sensation in their cervix? I’ve been having that lately. From what I am reading, it’s the baby dropping? I still feel him in my ribs though πŸ˜›

@Marriedandlovingit:  hmm, not sure about the stinging cervex. Haven’t had it.  Maybe ask the Spring Babies ladies since there are lots of them who have experienced drop.

I finally did my prenatal yoga DVD for the first time today. There is a 2nd section called prenatal massage, that instructs ‘daddy’ on how to massage me.  Very happy about that one. πŸ™‚

Also, I’m starting to learn that I must always pee before I leave anywhere, even if I just peed 2 hours ago.  I had a tricky moment where I was walking down the street today trying to spy a business that had a bathroom. TGFsubway.

@cvbee:  LOL, yes I make sure pee is the last (and first) thing I do when I leave anywhere.  But, I can only make it 45 mins without peeing during the day.  Usually it’s every 30 mins.  I spend so much time on the potty these days!
