@Goldilocks1107:  Summer in March is right. It has my head spinning thinking I should have more summer weight clothing for baby now. A consignment sale in the fall will be perfect, just as baby’s getting busier and busier you’ll be able to pick up some fun stuff for her!

@Marriedandlovingit:  I feel your pain. I’ve had to start taking iron supplements and its just made the situation worse, yay! And I was totally watching Juno too…

@Ms Mini:  Out with a bang, eh? At least you have less doubt about your time off now! Hope you get to relax. Good luck with your baby prepping and getting ready for your pictures!

@cvbee:  Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing! You’re so right about the swing thing… ours is enormous. We got the Fisher Price snuggabunny one and after setting it up I was like where the heck am I going to keep this thing?? Right now its in the nursery but I’m not looking forward to it being a fixture in our livingroom ๐Ÿ™ I’d say you’re much better off with the baby shaker hah! (I liked that). Here I thought I had a lot of blankets gifted to us… you definitely have us beat! On the plus side, receiving blankets can make good (with extra coverage) burp cloths!

@MissDareDevil:  You were definitely blessed with the pregnancy glow!

@Winniewolf: Still thinking of you and hoping you have good news come Saturday!

Ugh, I keep thinking about my new housewife and soon-to-be sahm status. I suck at it so far. I keep falling asleep when I should be cleaning house. I’m like a narcoleptic these days!

@LAGS:  Juno is funny. The part where she says she hasn’t taken a dump since Wednesday is so me these days (sorry to be so nasty, but that line is so relatable!).

Is everyone spending more time here, HelloBee, or has it been equal? I am starting to jump over to HB more often, but I still am here.

@Goldilocks1107:  We can start a ‘big baby’ club.  The other day when I was reading that link that I posted (Lucy’s list?), the author was a chick who had a big baby (and a torn vagina) but then she told us that big babies sleep through the night earlier (and then she said, ‘take that small baby bitches!’).  We can think of that line when our vaginas are scared.

@Goldilocks1107:  Yes, the short sleeves and snow is a bit odd, but it happened at a freakish time of the year….first warm days, so we still had snow and ice but it was warm out.  (I did have my winter coat with me, but didn’t wear it much).  Now, just a week or so later, all the snow and ice is melted!

@LAGS:  Just registered for the snuggabunny ‘baby shaker’.  I’m wondering if our little boy will grow up and hate us because it’s like being in a bunny suit and it is a bit over-the-top in cuteness, wouldn’t you say? Almost too much?  Glad you think swings are too much real estate too.  Just had another mini-shower tonight and got 4 more receiving blankets, one more quilt and one more general baby blanket!

@Marriedandlovingit:  I go on here more than Hellobee just because I find this thread easier to find. ๐Ÿ™‚

@cvbee:  I got a swing from a friend and wow, it is huge! I don’t know why their legs have to be SOOOOO far apart. We are thinking of getting one of those “portable ones” that are super low to the ground and you can set on a table or something? I feel like that would be a lot less in the way, as our house is pretty small too! (And we also have a dog with dog toys, a bed, and a kennel that take up space in our house!)

@Goldilocks1107:  I was reading in one of my baby books that the babies of the most “robust health” are in between 7 lbs 10 oz and 9 lbs something. So maybe big babies ARE healthier!

@cvbee:  I only have 3 recieving blankets… I want to go out and buy those Aiden and Anais Muslin ones for swaddling!

Well, my work days are officially over for a year! Work was incredibly busy the last couple days, and I know the next week or so will be crazy. I feel so bad about not being there to help, but I know my job is to relax and not do anything to raise my BP!

Oddly enough I woke up with a headache and high Bridal Party this morning. I took my labetelol and had a shower, and luckily the Bridal Party had gone back down to normal after the shower, but the headache is sticking around, I am having breakfast, and if the headache is still sticking around (I have already taken tylenol) I might have to head into LDR for assessment (blech). I am hoping to avoid it.

DH is stuck at work this weekend, so even though we are SO CLOSE to finishing the drywall, we likely won’t make any progress this weekend. My sister might come up to help us get some stuff done next weekend, which would be awesome. I am starting to feel like our renos will not be done before baby is born, so we need to go ahead and get the nursery started, and if people want to stay with us, it will be in unfinished guest rooms.

@cvbee:  If you knew my history with this pediatrician (and the way she routinely treats nurses) you would totally understand me wanting to push her out the window! My co-workers think it is hilarious that I own up to it when she turns her back though. I think if someone did push her out a window they would get a party! Your maternity pics are super cute! I am so excited about mine in a week and a half!

@MissDareDevil:  You look awesome! Seriously, I would love to look like you right now!

@Goldilocks1107:  Sounds like you did well at the sale, you reminded me that I will have to get my parents to buy an infant life vest, my dad has a jet boat and really wants us to come out on the river with him this summer. We don’t tend to have consignment sales around here, they sound like an awesome place to get stuff for a good price.

@LAGS:  Definitely out with a bang! My last day was about 100 times busier then my second last day!

@Marriedandlovingit:  I am worried about my year off, I am not used to keeping up the house on my own, my husband will probably want to help just as much, but since I won’t be making as much money, I will feel much more obligated to keep the house looking apotless all the time.

@MissDareDevil:  Wow, looking good!

Also, my mom said 3 blankets is exactly the right amount, so no worries!

So, we finally bought our family vehicle and don’t have to worry about having a slightly illegal situaltion with the baby in our little Ford Ranger.  We got a 2010 Ford Edge and it’s super luxerious compared to the basic Ranger we’ve been driving for 5 years (which we are keeping…..yay for having two vehicles). We had to drive a ways to get the vehicle so we don’t quite have it yet due to paperwork issues on the weekends, but we shall have it soon when they ship it to us.  Phew.  Baby to-do-list item CHECK!

And since we had to travel 3 hours to get the vehicle, we were only about 45 minutes from my cousin who just had her baby.  Soooo, we went to visit her at home with her 3 day old precious little girl!  ANd they were in such a chill, happy mood….totally generous with letting DH and I hold her so much and fuss over her for the whole time we were there.  We brought pizza and beer (for the guys) and had a great time.  When I was holding her, my little guy was kicking her from below—-soo funny!  And I don’t know if I’ve ever been around a 3 day old baby before. It was so special.  My cousin was really open to sharing her birth story (epidural and she said it was great…..but that having bodily functions all out in the open was a little bit of a shift in dignity!).  Also interestingly, she suddenly changed her mind about not breast feeding and is doing well with breastfeeding. (I never asked her why she wasn’t going to).  They are doing super well and still high on adreneline and happiness.  They say they’ve barely slept in the 3 days, but that they aren’t tired at all.  The baby is most alert all night long, they say.  DH and I were so in love and seeing a newborn baby this close to having our own made us soooo excited to have our baby.  Can’t wait.  (But of course we can wait, for the sake of the  baby).  Oh, and she still looks about 24 weeks pregnant, which I know is what I should expect, but I’ve never seen someone after birth before.  She showed me her bare tummy though, and it looks smooth and hard (I have a slight fear of ‘pizza dough’ post-baby tummy).

So many hours driving yesterday was tough!

Looking forward to a lazy day at home today. ๐Ÿ™‚

@cvbee:  Sooo cute! I want to see a newborn, too. ๐Ÿ˜› Congrats to your cousin.

I’m nervous about the post-baby belly, too. My best friend showed me all the extra skin hanging there 10 days after her first baby was born.

Congrats on the new car! That is a long time driving to get your car, but I understand it’s worth it to have a new car.   We got one, too, but it’s definitely smaller than the one that was totalled. It *is* nice though–we got a PriusC.

@Marriedandlovingit:  I’m over at hellobee more.  I still check in on this thread daily, but can’t post to it from phone/ipad and feel like I write the same things both places!  Looks like many of us are spending more time over there these days.

@MissDareDevil:  You look great!  I remember you went to the hospital a while ago – remind me what had happened??  I’m on pretty strict bedrest for time being – basically have to be reclining on couch or in bed with bathroom privileges and can take 1 shower a day.  How have you coped with being so limited in your activities?

@cvbee:  Beautiful pictures!  You are one glowing mama!

@Ms Mini:  Crazy you are done work now! So glad you are getting paid until your leave!  I have to figure out what the heck my work situation will be until I deliver.  I am authorized to work from home, but probably will take this week as sick time and then ease into some light work from home next week.  I could go on disability, but pretty sure I’ll be bored out of my gord in a week or so and will need some stimulation (also getting paid full time beats disability at 60/75 percent pay).

Here is my update (from hellobee) – resting at home now after 72 hrs in hospital!

Hey everyone!

I’m home now – they discharged me last night! My contractions were random/stable without meds and my dilation was still a “soft 1 cm” last evening – meaning a little more than 1, but less than 2, so stable. A little nerve wracking to be at home and monitoring my condition on my own, but I think once I’m home for a few days and the contractions don’t pick up again, I’ll feel much better. I still do have contractions, but they seem pretty random and nothing like what I was having before I was admitted to the hospital. I will probably need to stay on bedrest until 36-37 weeks, depending on how I do. The first few weeks will be pretty strict and then they might let me add in more activity.

It is really nice to be home though. I have “bathroom privileges” which means I really need to be reclined/laying and can get up to use the bathroom, get a drink, and can take a quick shower a day.

This is a complete 180 from my normal life so will take some getting used to. I should be able to work from home (maybe later this week….otherwise I might go bonkers). My husband has been absolutely amazing through this all. He’s calm, positive, supportive, and taking great care of me. I feel very lucky.

Yesterday while I was in hospital, my parents sat at home and received our nursury furniture – so I came home to a set up room.  SO weird!  It looks good and now the house is getting ready for baby W to arrive.

31 weeks today! Crazy how I’ve gone back to counting every day (like first trimester).

Thanks to all the May mamas for checking in despite your own pregnancy issues and busy lives – it means so much!!

@winniewolf:  Yes, seeing my cousin’s 3 day old DID make it all real.  It also inspired us in our organizing.  My grandma has bought both of us a lot of the same things, and so when we saw how my cousin was using the pack and play with the changer as a change station, we were impressed and totally copied them.  So now I’ve got the pack and play all set up with diapers and diapers stuff ready around it.  Plus, I am storing the four thousand receiving blankets under the changer. Oooh I should take a pic and add.
