I just bought tea length wedding dress from Davids Bridal. I may or may not have it shortened but they told me it would be $120.00 to shorten a long dress I was interested in at a previous appointment. This dress needs to be taken in for sure from bust to waist. Wondering how much you all paid for those services? They told me they wouldnt alter it until 8 weeks before the wedding… wish I could do it NOW! lol.

I accidentally lost a lot of weight before the wedding and basically needed my dress to be disassembled and reassembled 3 days prior. This alteration cost $300.
I imagine yours would cost less than that.

I’ve always heard it is best to buy the dress there but take it elsewhere for alterations! Alterations is where they make their big bucks!!

I had the sides taken in, had it shortened (just to my height not to a tea length), and had a bustle added and it was $260

I would definitely take it somewhere else for alterations! I think it’s how DB makes a lot of their money by over charging for their alteration services. I had my big beaded ball gown hemmed, taken in on the sides and bustled all for under 100 dollars, from a private seamstress. Don’t let them jip you!!

Mine were $225. My dress was taken in, hemmed & bustled.

They didn’t charge me a dime. Had it shortened and clasps fixed. They fixed it right there in front of me.

Thanks everyone. That gives me an idea for sure.
I realize that I could probably get alterations cheaper else where but I dont trust anyone around here having my dress for a week or more. I figure it could come back with a stain or something which has happened to me more than once. At least with DB they will clean & steam it. I know its probably a rip off my my dress was a deal.
