Topaz can come in so many different shades! Don’t mind my bathroom picture here, but I thought this might be helpful to see side-by-side. All the stones in the bracelet, ring & 3-stone earrings are regular topaz. The larger earrings with the halo are London Blue Topaz. I think all shades are pretty! ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, I haven’t cleaned the ring in quite some time, which is why it looks a little cloudy. I do find that I need to clean the larger stones frequently.

1cat :ย  Just thought I would throw this out there in case you or anyone else is interested. A week ago, I ordered from a site I found called africagems.com. They sell very high quality gems (at least that’s what they say and so do their reviews), loose or in settings if you want. I should be getting the stones in tomorrow. I ordered 2 matching 5mm London blue topaz trillions. It will be for a new wedding ring I’m planning on having made in a few months. I only paid about $34, including shipping. They’re having a promo on everything, so when you check out, type in “vday2017” in the coupon/promo bar and it’ll take 20% off for you. Pretty much all of their gems are listed as “AAA” which is the highest quality in terms of clarity and color. They even tell you any treatments that have been done to the stones (if any). I chose London blue topazes because I like the deep blue color, and my daughter’s birthday is in December. I know people typically choose the lighter blue topazes for that month, but birthstones have alternatives for a reason. ๐Ÿ˜‰ The site is worth taking a look at!

This was my original engagement ring. I did swap out the stone because it was scratched though.

1cat :  Just received my London blue topazes from Africagems! They’re so beautiful, I shrieked! Lol It was hard to get a really good pic with my phone. They’re bright, the color is perfect, the clarity is incredible, and they sparkle like crazy. I can’t wait until they’re set. The first pic is without a flash and the second is with a flash. With the flash on, they photograph more of a deep blue sapphire color, but IRL, you can see the aqua/deep green/grey from different angles.

1cat :  Thank u! I’m gonna be having a 3 stone anniversary ring. I was initially going to have a cushion moissy center but my husband preferred a princess cut better. It’s fashioned after Monica’s engagement ring on ‘Friends’ which has been my dream ring since I saw it about 15 years ago when the episode aired. (It’s also my favorite show of all time!) Her ring has trillion sapphires, which I was going to get, but my husband said if we’re gonna have colored stones in the ring, they might as well be our daughter’s birthstone. So I thought about London blue topazes because of the deep blue color. He saw them online and loved them, which is amazing to get any kind of reaction from him about jewelry. Lol The ring is going to have some custom rose gold detailing on the side, which I have to talk to the jeweler about. This is just a quick color change mock-up from my phone of how I want the profile of the setting to look. The “surprise” bezel gemstones underneath are going to be a peridot for my hubby’s birthstone and a Swiss blue topaz on the other side for my birthstone. It seems complicated, but I just wanted to make sure that it was unique to my preferences and symbolic to me and my family. So any way you look at it, from the top, sides, or profile, it kind of tells a story.
