I have a single halo. As for your question, I have no idea because I’m not very knowledgeable about jewelry ๐Ÿ˜› but here’s a side view of mine!

My diamond sits high – whether or not yours can be lowered will mostly depend on the dimension of the diamond/stone and the halo itself. Mine sits so high because it’s in a halo that is smaller than the diamond (we bought the diamond as a loose stone and it is about .15 carats bigger than the standard size of the halo it is in). So my diamond is sitting as low as it can in my particular halo – it couldn’t go any lower. If your stone was set high just for looks and the halo is large enough to accomodate your stone then the prongs should be able to be changed out and it could be lowered. With mine, the opposite had to happen, they changed out the prongs so it could sit higher so I can’t see why they couldn’t change them out for it to sit lower as long as the stone is not too large to sit lower in your halo.

My diamond actually came to me set pretty low so I had them take it back to make it higher ๐Ÿ™‚ All they had to do was change out the prongs. It’s set as high as they felt comfortable taking it. I wanted to be able to see it better. When it was set so low before it sorta felt hidden.20150607_105525

Changing the profile of your ring will really depend on the design of your setting. My ring for example would have to be completely re-done if i wanted to change its height, but its also a complicated (detailed) ring.  A simpler ring would be much easier.

It can be done on ANY ring, questions is…. how much ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s mine – top and side view. My diamond sits pretty low in the halo.

mrslerca:  I’m never really had a problem with it getting hung on things!

I get where you’re coming from on the space between the diamond and the halo – I was worried about how I would feel about that as well and didn’t think I would like it, but honestly it’s almost never at an angle on my hand where I notice the space and I ended up really liking how the ring looked overall. From most angles, the halo and the diamond blend well together on mine, but I actually ended up liking the tiered look more than I thought I would from the angles where it does show. I think you should definitely go for your personal preference, but you never know – maybe it will be perfect as is when you see it on your hand ;)!

For example, this is what mine looks like from the top:
