We had a game to see how many paperclips I was around my belly and a game where people tried to make as many words as possible out of my sons name. We also had a game where we used little plastic clothes pins and everyone started with one and if someone heard you say “baby” they took yours. The person with the most at the end of the baby shower won a prize. I’m sure there were more but I can’t remember them all.

As for when I had it, 2 months before my due date so I would have pleanty of time to get everything I would still need before having him. There are a lot of people who give birth about a month before they are due and I wanted to be sure to be ready in case that would happen to me.

I just remembered another game we had! Everyone drank out of a bottle and the person who drank the most in 2 minutes won. They put grapefruit juice in the bottles so people wouldn’t want to drink it as fast. Then my Darling Husband and I got to keep the bottles when it was over.

I just tried to upload some and my internet is being too slow. I’ll try again later but all I have pictures of are the bottle game and us opening gifts and the cake before it was cut.

I thought of another game though. It’s the “guess the poo” game. You smash different candy bars in diapers and everyone tries to guess what each candy bar was. The person who guesses the most right is the winner.

My shower isn’t for a couple of weeks, but I can tell you about my sisters, I hosted it 🙂

It was 6 weeks before her due date (but she went a week early). We had it at 1pm and it went until about 4 I think?

We started with introductions of everyone in the room and then everyone ate. Our menu consisted of: Honey tomato basil grilled harvarti cheese sandwiches, strawberry walnut salad, chocolate cupcakes, strawberry rhubarb pie, iced tea, virgin strawberry daquiris and lemon water. (I think we had a couple other items that I can’t remember)

After lunch we played an “icebreaker game” that was actually the favorite game of the day. I had bought a cute silver piggy bank from Carters and we set it up in the middle of the room. We then played a variation of the game “Never Have I Ever”, and anytime someone had done that thing, they instead put a coin into the piggy bank for the baby! We asked people to use any spare change they had on hand, but if they didn’t/were uncomfortable, I made sure to have a few rolls of coins on hand. It was super fun!

We then had my sister open her gifts which takes about 20 minutes?

We played a game of baby trivia, but this one wasn’t as big of a hit as the first game..maybe we had the wrong crowd. I had gotten questions from several different websites and we divided the group into four teams.

We then opened it up to “decorate a onesie” though some people had to be leaving at this point, so whoever stuck around did the project. I think if I could do it differently I would have nixed the trivia game and done the decorate a onesie contest earlier, because with people leaving we couldn’t make it a contest like we’d planned so we eneded up with all these “prizes” left over! Anyhow, for the decorate a onesie I just bought a few packs of gerber onesies and put out dried lemons, potatoes and apples, fabric paint, fabric markers, and stencils. Everyone had a blast doing it! Some of them turned out really cute too, and some not so much lol but it was fun.

Overall the shower was really fun 🙂 We were aiming to be “non-cliche” with games and do things people would really enjoy. The onesie decorating and piggy bank game were really fun.

As for decor: we decorated in the baby room colors, teal and brown. We bought little tissue paper foof balls from party city and hung them around the house. We strung crepe paper along the banister and clothes pinned pictures of the momma and daddy-to-be throughout the years, as well as some maternity pictures. We made a cute table runner out of burlap, and my mom made a banner that said “Baby *Last Name” out of scrapbook paper. We had some balloons strapped to the rocking chair for the mama and lots of decorative dishes for the food (like a cupcake tower and adorable beverage dispensers).

Oh, and we made her invites too from supplies we got at archivers. Turned out super cute:

Hopefully that helps and is kinda what you were looking for! Sorry I wasn’t the one to end up with the shower pics though, so I don’t have any 🙁

ETA: I think 8 weeks prior to EDD is a good idea. I am about 32 weeks now and everything exhausts me! I am having to wait til the end of this month (I’ll be 36 weeks) to have my shower though because the holidays through everything off. So I know I’ll probably be pretty tired having to set up all the baby stuff those weeks.
