“Make sure it’s not something that’s not your style”?? Really?

My Fiance insists that I would beautiful in whatever kind of dress I picked. He just wants me to be happy with my decision.

I feel that it’s more important for me to like the dress than my Fiance – after all, I’m the one wearing it and I doubt he’ll even remember it after the day. He wants me to look like myself, but I think he knew I would never buy a dress that wasn’t “me” – I’m not the kind of girl who would wear a big princess ball gown EVER and he knows this, so I think if I turned up at our wedding in one he would be surprised and probably wouldn’t like it. The only thing he actually said in relation to my dress before I went shopping is that he wants me to wear white or a shade of white – no blush or grey or anything. The dress I actually bought is ivory lace over pale gold, so he kind of got his way lol (although you can’t really notice the gold at all).

My Fiance likes super white ballgowns – the bigger the better! My dress is a heavily beaded ivory sheath gown. We’ve walked around wedding shows and I’ve pointed out sheath dresses and he always says that they don’t look like wedding gowns. My opinion? I’m the one wearing it and I want to feel at my most beautiful on the day so I picked the dress that did that for me. I’m sure he’ll still think I look beautiful when I’m walking down the aisle regardless. So my vote is to pick wear what you love!

I think ultimately a bride should wear what she wants. However, I wouldn’t want to freak out my Fiance with something really weird (for me). Like if I showed up in a big poofy ballgown when he’s never known me to be froofy, for example, that might make him wince or think “wtf?” upon first seeing me. I guess if I were really inclined to do something like that I’d give him a warning. Lol

    I hope that made sense.

I actually think that’s a sweet thing to say.. he wants to make sure you look like you, not like the bride you think you ought to look like.. at least thats what I think “make sure its not something thats not your style” means.  I feel like his reply was his way of saying “just do you”

“Make sure it’s something that’s not your style”? What’s that supposed to mean? Sounds like a rude comment to me.

I think as long as you wear something that’s not crazy like, idk, a burlap sack dress, your groom should think you’re beautiful because he thinks you’re beautiful anyway and on top of that, you’re extra dolled up with professional hair and makeup and a perfectly tailored dress.

Eirene00:  I wouldn’t worry too much about what he said. Men don’t even know what they want to see on their bride. If you love it you will exude confidence and happiness, and that’s really what will make you the most beautifiul. Try to keep him out of the conversation from now on! It’s totally YOUR decision. LOL.

All other quesitons from him should be answered with some sort of “It’s a surprise! It’s bad luck to talk about it! etc”

Eirene00:  I couldn’t care less if he likes it. I’m the one wearing it.
