ZebraPrintMe:  Oh no the dreaded thigh rub!!! I’m a pear shaped women I know and hate that feeling sooo much!  I had a huge gown too and I was worried about this. My legs did get pretty hot under the dress I don’t remember suffering too bad though as I didn’t even get time to think about it. Luckily, you can stand with your legs a bit further apart and no one can tell under the big skirt! Yay!

Here’s a few other options I can suggest:

1. A hoop skirt. This will hold your dress away from your legs and keep you cooler.

2. You could try really thin 10 denier tights (pantyhoes) just as a rub buffer.

3. If you are wearing shapewear you could get the kind that comes down you legs. This will stop the rub, but will make you hotter.

4. They make sweat resistant anti-chaff cream for runners. You could try some of this.

Hope that helps!

ZebraPrintMe:  I’ve heard to use baby powder and I have heard it from everywhere- that’s my plan! Or gold bond powder (which I used when I worked waterfront for a camp- worked wonders to prevent rashes and chafing being in a bathing suit in the hot humidity all day!)

I wore Spanx. I buy them a size too big for when I just need a chub-rub shield. (And in the right size for when I need them to suck everything in!)

BodyGlide is what runners use and should prevent it! For what it’s worth, I wore a fit and flare and didn’t have chafing issues, and it was 90degrees!

ZebraPrintMe:  not gonna lie.I KNEW my thighs would rub no matter how much weight I lost (almost 40lbs and I weighed ~129) so, I bought some white bike shorts that cover the problem area for $10 and I was beyond comfy. I wore a ball gown. No regrets in that area at all. I wear a shorter version of those bike shorts when I wear skirts because my thighs will rub no matter what.

I used body glide to prevent chaffing duing several marathons with great success. I figure if it can stay put during 4-5 hours of sweaty running, it might be a good option for a wedding!  It doesn’t prevent your thighs from touching but it does protect against irritation. It is clear, odorless, and is applied like deodorant.  Love it!

I normally will chafe my thighs when wearing dresses but I had no problem at my August (warm) wedding.  I used the Monistat chafing cream but also wore a foundation garmet that was like tight shorts (not super long shorts though – like longish boy shorts).  The only areas that got a little chafed was the sides of my torso, so I should have thought to use the monistat cream there also.  Caused by perspiration from dancing and the dress rubbing a little bit.

I am going to check into the Certain Dri, but I swear by slathering a good stick deodorant like Degree extra strength between my thighs.  I frequently wear skirts in summer and my thighs rub.  Deodorant has been my savior for MANY years and I’ve planned to wear it under my gown too.

I have a pair of leggings that got a hole in the knee – so I cut them off mid thigh (below where my thighs rub) and wear them under dresses. They work great. But they’re black, so for my wedding I bough a pair of nude colored shorts/spanx but I bought them in a size that wasn’t tight like the Spanx that suck you in. The were super comfy.

MsJ2theZ:  You may have just saved me from some heavy duty worry. (TMI alert) I sweat like a mo’fo’ and I am so. freaking. terrified I’m going to ruin my dress from sweat damage. Is Certain Dri just like a deodorant stick?

I’ve been wondering about the same thing lol!  Although I’m getting married in November so much less of an issue.  Friend of mine wore something that looked like bike shorts at her wedding in St Thomas.  Body glide is good too.  Its to prevent chafing for runners.
