There’s a sperm friendly lubricant called “Preseed” which was developed for people who are TTC and have the issue that you have.  I guess most drugstores carry it.  At least in Canada.  It won’t effect sperm motility when TTC and, actually, is supposed to help the sperm out!

Adding that using saliva or water is not good when TTC because the water and saliva will damage the sperm.

I got quite the education in this after having lunch with a friend who is TTC.  She bought a tube and hopes it’ll perform miracles for her.  She says some women on some TTC board were talking it up, saying they got pregnant quickly after using it.  As for me, I’ll be avoiding that stuff like the plague since all Darling Husband has to do is mention the word wedding and I get knocked up!  lol!

Invest in some silicone based kind!  The Si based ones are way, way better than KY’s water based kind. My doc warned me against the water based kinds like Astroglide and KY–not sure why.

According to my friend (who sadly overshares many details of her TTC escapades) said she uses the Preseed stuff, too.  But she uses it like KY or any other kind of lube.  I guess it comes with applicators and she said you had insert it 20 mins. before having sex.  We all laughed saying there goes the spontinaety, but she said she uses it like regular lube (no applicator) and it works fine that way.

It may still be a lingering effect of being on the pill.  I know once I’d been on the pill for a while, I just dried up.  No matter how much foreplay we have or how turned on I am, I don’t get very wet.  We almost always have to break out lube (I wasn’t this way initially – it only came about after having been on the pill for about a year so I attibute it to that).

Good to know that there are certain lubes that are better for when you’re TTC.  Darling Husband and I aren’t there yet but I’ll have to keep that in mind for when we are.

Yup, talked to my Ob/gyn about this issue because i have that problem too and she said there’s nothing wrong with using some extra lubrication.  She suggested Pink’s silicone based lubication.  Water based lubication evaporates too quickly which is why it doesn’t last long.

ETA: Yeah, I’m 27 and I’ve had this problem ever since I was on the Nuva ring but now that i’m off it, I still have the problems.  But the doctor said nothing is wrong with me.

@JustlikeHeaven: Yeah – I’m only 23.  Sucks a little, doesn’t it? 🙁  Hopefully when I go off the pill eventually mine will come back (and I hope yours does too).

@wbrn: Not sure what that has to do w/ this topic…

@JustlikeHeaven: I feel ya! I’m the exact same way. I don’t remember being like this in my late teens/early 20’s; maybe the pill has had more of an effect that I thought. Although, there was a year+ that I was off the pill and it didn’t matter. I guess it would help if I got off and stayed off?
