we will just call this a teeny tiny rant. went to visit my Future Mother-In-Law for mothers day. started talking about my ring. she asked “so what size is it a four or five?” (as if a woman could be nothing else.)
to which i replied no..it’s actually an 8 1/2. NO JOKE she clutched her chest and almost fell out of her chair. and then gave my Fiance judgy eyes.
how dare he marry such a fat fingered thing.
urghghghg it just made me mad and really hurt my feelings.
she’s obsessed with weight and size truly someones size gets talked about every time i see her..
i’m really sensative about mine and it’s just a struggle for me. i feel like she probably thinks i’m fat and not good enough and will give her fat grandkids. lol
ok end rant.

I am a size 7, I wonder if she would have done the same thing? LOL

I’m sorry! Don’t feel bad. My ring finger is a size 8, and my mom and sisters wedding rings fit comfortably on my pinky. No joke! I am sure your Fiance sees you for the beautiful woman you are and so just ignore everyone else!

@ames12708: Awww….Dude, that sucks.
I get it. My Mother-In-Law, GMIL, etc are all very short, small women. I’m 5″8.5 and have a size 7 finger. More significantly, I have size 10 shoes. MANY times, I have been offered slippers, sandles, shoes, etc. only to have to say “Thank you, but those shoes don’t have a chance of fitting. I’m a size 10.” The look of horror that smears itself across my MIL’s face EACH TIME (like it’s a surprise) is something that I won’t forget, but has become funny with time. It hurt the first time…but I realised that…umm…she’s really short and, on a daily basis, I feel lucky that to be tall. Besides, I have lots of hot shoes even with my “giant” feet and she has foot problems with her tiny feet and has to wear orthopedic shoes….k…that was mean, but you get my point. LOL
She sounds kind of petty and if she’s going to get all up in arms about ring size, she’s got issues. This is about her, not you. Put that on repeat. Laugh quietly (or not so quietly) the next time she needs help opening a jar.

Urgh that’s so frustrating. I totally get where you’re coming from. My Mother-In-Law is the same way. She’s obsessed with her weight and eveyrone else’s and weight gets discussed every time I see her. She ways herself twice a day because god forbit she gains an ounce. I think she’s hovering around 100 pounds right now, (which is not attractive for a woman her age). I’m 5″5′ and 120 pounds and I’m pretty sure she thinks I could stand to lose a few pounds.
Do not let her get to you. He weight obsession is her problem, not yours. Your Fiance loves you and your fingers at the size they are. 🙂

My ring finger is 10 1/2. No joke. Shoe size: 12. Yes, I’m serious. I just have guy hands, and feet. (Ring shopping has been crazy, crazy stressful on me.) I am plus sized, yes, but even when I was a size 6, my hands were this size.
My bf’s mom (who, luckily, I have a fairly good relationship with) is tiiiinnnyyyyyy. She buys me clothes sometimes and they were always size small or medium. I asked my bf to have a chat with her, and the next time I saw her, she had a sweater for me, IN MY SIZE. I was floored.
So, maybe your Fiance could have a chat with his mom? I didn’t think it’d help in my situation, but, it really did..

UGH. I know exactly what you’re feelingg, I’ve felt the same thing. My sister was over at my apartment and asked to look at my ring. So I gave it to her, she put it on her hand and was like OMG THIS IS SOOO BIG, it’s just falling off my fingers. Then she kept going on and on and on and on about how tiny her fingers are and how big the ring was on her. and I was like okay you can stop now, she shes like oh I’m only saying something because you said it was a little too big. Like yeah, its a little big on me, the ring is a 7 and I think a 6 3/4 would fit better but its not like it’s going to slip off my finger at any point! OMG.

@ArwenBride: lololololol. Big feet unite, I wear a size 9
Post # 10
Aw, I’m sorry she was so rude! Honestly, I think finger size often isn’t even related to your overall weight or anything. Even though she’s the same height as me and only a little bit bigger, my sister can only fit my ring on her pinky (and even on that finger she can’t get it all the way down) because she just has bigger hands and feet than I do. Always has. Please don’t let this bother you, plenty of other people have the same finger size, she’s just crazy!

@scarlet_letter: I feel your pain. Size 10 1/2 ring finger, size 11 shoes.
I sympathize as well! size 9.5/10 shoes & 7.5 ring. Fiance proposed with a ring “he though would fit” but alas it was a size too small and I had to wear it on my pinky for the first few weeks while people congratulated me.

i am a US size 10 ring, and size 10 dress size. weight doesnt neccessarily correlate with ring sizes. if your happy, then dont let her drag you down about stuff like this.
you have a Fiance who wants to spend the rest of his life with you, regardless of your ring size!

i agree it doesn’t really have much to do with size i used to be about a size 5 in clothes and my fingers were still as big in fact i think my high school class ring was a 9…
but still it’s just like makes me feel sensative. but thanks for all the words of encouragement and fellow finger sympathizers lol
I know my wonderful FH loves me very much exactly how i am and will love me even if that changes for the better or worse and that is what matters..
but that little show still bugged me lol

If it makes you feel better my tiny pilates instructor is a size 7- don’t worry- she’s just used to the generation where a womans average shoe size was a 5 lol- women are taller, have bigger feet, AND bigger hands these days =) it’s completely normal!
