Background: I’ll be 40 when I get married this September, Fiance will be 29. This is my second wedding (divorced 10 years) and his first, so he wants to go all out.
I fell in love with the Maggie Phillipa but couldn’t afford the price. I found this one on Ebay brand new for $400 and bought it. It’s absolutely gorgeous and I’ve changed our entire wedding around this dress (colors, theme, etc.)
Unfortunately, since I didn’t get to try the dress on prior to purchasing, it is too tight in the chest (will not zip). I’m working on losing weight and am fairly confident I’ll be able to fit into the dress in 6+ months. I really do not want to make it a corset back as I love the button details down the back. The length is absolutely perfect with my 4 inch heels so no alterations needed there. I will be adding a bustle.
The bracelet is a chunky pearl and crystal – I will probably wear it on the opposite wrist (not my ring hand).
The earrings were originally $42 and I bought them on sale, with coupons, for $12 (what a steal).
1. Seeing the photo from the back, is it feasible to lose enough weight in 6 months so the dress will fit?
2. Is my butt too flat from the side view? Would you wear shapers to give more volume to my butt (I never in a million years thought having a flat butt would be a negative).
3. Is the bracelet too chunky, or does it work well?
4. Earrings and other jewlery “match”?
5. Any other input is appreciated.

i think it looks great. I am sure you can lose the weight in time to fit perfectly
i prefer the earrings to the bracelet

Ok, love it all. I cannot comment on butt shapers…that whole concept is very strange to me.
I don’t know about the back part. You can’t necessarily guarantee that you will lose the weight in your chest so I guess I’d diet/exercise hard core and in a few months if it still doesn’t zip, I’d say you’d have to consider the alterations to corset…

What a great deal on the dress! I think you could lose the weight (I am no expert), as long as you lose weight off your chest. Maybe you could see if there is any way to let out the dress some if you are really worried though.
I like your bracelet and earrings separately, but not together. If I had to pick one, I would pick the bracelet.
Also, I don’t think your bum is too flat. I didn’t know they made shapers for that, but I would say if it will make you more confident on your wedding day, you should try them out.

I think the dress is gorgeous on you. I’d go with simpler jewelry though. Pearls maybe? or golden long teardrops?

Lovely dress!! I def think you’ll be able to tone up enough in time to have it fit. Even though you don’t want a corsette back. you could always wear a corsette underneath and see if that helps pull everything together a bit more. I think shapers for your bottom is a good idea if it makes you feel more comfortable, but I really don’t think you need it. The shape of the dress is already super flattering. And I have to say I love the jewelry choice!! I love that bracelet! Very pretty! Sure, together they look pretty darn fancy with that dress, but it’s your wedding day! You should look fancy!!! I definitely would avoid wearing a necklace though, as that might push it over the top.

You have great curves I hope weight loss won’t take that away. It doesn’t look like a lot of weight loss in necessary, probably 10 lbs? Very achievable within six months. But eventhough the bracelet is nice, it’s just too much.

Thanks for the input. I was leaning toward the bracelet being too much. It’s something I’d definitely wear for “fun” so if I don’t wear it on the big day, no loss.
Maybe after more weight loss, I’ll reevaluate the butt enhancers (I guess that’s more of what I was talking about – not a shaper, but an enhancement). I’ve always felt like I had a pancake/flat butt so I’m self-conscious about it.
Thanks again, Ladies!

Forever 21 often has pretty sparkly bracelets that might work – I wore one and I got so many compliments on it!
Also, beautiful dress! I think if you are committed to losing weight, you should be able to in 6 months.
