kaylee26:  Typically at these conferences people segregate themselves by MDs or PhDs.. and then further by school. I’ll most likely find a few people I’ve met in passing, make small talk with them for 20 minutes, and then wander back up to my room. I swear I’m usually more social! Not really in the mood to turn on my schmoozing skills I guess.

okqueenbee:  It’s this web service that allows you do create complex surveys and collects the data.  A lot of psych researchers use it, but my organization uses it to create applications for our educational programs. I’m in charge of creating and managing the applications, so whenever something is screwed up, I have to email Survey Monkey about it. They’ve been upgrading their site and there have been some glitches, so for the past two weeks or so I’ve emailed them almost every day.

Hmmm, my day consisted of waiting for the repair man to fix our sink, working on a midterm exam, job hunting, making a terrible fish dinner, and now DH and I will be watching an episode of Game of Thrones. We’re a little late to the banwagon 😉

I’m tired of being unemployed. I need a job.

okqueenbee:  example: we were thrilled that the place had laminate and not carpet. They put it down as not being “real wood” and called it cheap.

okqueenbee:  I”m here actually trying to get work done, I really want to get this crap off my desk but I need to talk to my boss about something to make sure I have details right and he’s busy chatting with friends who stopped by, the other boss is in a meeting so I’m basically at a standstill…so annoyed!

I’ve had a rather weird Wednesday. It started with an early appointment with probably the most arrogant, patronising and condescending surgeon we’ve ever had the misfortune to see. But DH took a zero tolerance approach – in an exceedingly polite but definite manner – and has avoided huge, life-changing and quite unecessary surgery. Yay to DH!

Then I had a business meeting and discovered that someone else is teaching exactly the same seminar as I am booked to deliver to a different audience next week. I wish I’d known because I’d have quietly observed the “competition” this afternoon! Oh, and I really ought to be writing the wretched seminar too. But I’d rather hang around here…

okqueenbee:  I honestly keep all of the Christmas cards we receive. Right now, they’re still all being displayed in the house. I’m such a dork, but I keep them up for as long as I can and then I put them in a box. My mom always keeps the year’s Christmas cards in a basket until the next batch come in. I like being able to read all of the letters anytime during the year when I feel the need to connect again.

Today has just been blah. I’m in that mood where you just need *something*. Maybe that email you’ve been waiting for, or a call from an old friend, or anything, just SOMETHING, and so far I’ve got nothing. I’m trying not to get too discouraged
