    There are *so* many non-meat options that are filling and delicious, and you can provide some very interesting and tasty dishes for people to try without feeling like you’ve gone against your ethics.

    I think the whole “people expect it” thing needs to be away. It’s not about what people expect. If you’re giving your guests a yummy meal and a good time, it’s not going to kill them not to eat meat. If they’re so desperate, they can grab a burger from a drive-thru on their way home 😉

    I think a yummy hearty pasta dish is the best way to go meat free without anyone really missing it, if you’re just veggie and not vegan I’d make sure it was deliciously cheesy though! I wouldn’t miss the meat, if you HAVE to have some to appease people maybe just hors d’oevres (sp?) so it’s not the main meal and in your face. No meat is better than dry/bad/bland meat that I’m used to getting at big functions, it’s really hard to keep hot and fresh at the same time.
