I’m pregnant with my first and did a lot of research on these 2 brands. I ended up with the Spectra in the end. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. Not covered by Kaiser though.

NOLABride2015 :  I wasn’t, but a few of my friends got the Spectra as their insurance pump. Everyone that I know that has it loves it!

I got the spectra s2 through insurance from Edgepark.  They have the portable s9 available too I think which I will try to get next year.  I’ve never used the medela other than the symphony at the hospital, so I can’t compare, but i have no complaints about the spectra.

I got a Spectra s1 through my insurance.

No way to compare it to Medela since Ive never tried one, but I’ve been pumping colostrum and I’ll say I’m impressed with how light and quiet it is, and how easy it is to clean the parts (since the tubing doesn’t need to be cleaned)

sunflowers121 :  Just FYI — if you see a lactation consultant, you can get a Medela Symphony 100% covered through Kaiser. I’ve been using one since LO was just a few weeks old and he’s 8 months now. 🙂

NOLABride2015 :  Spectra. The PISA is louder, more complicated to take apart, an open pump system, and not as powerful.
