Oh wow! That’s pretty good. I know they’ve (the medical community) have been working on this sort of thing for awhile. A few years back there was a French? lady who was mauled by I dog, I believe, and she received a face transplant. Hers was not this advanced.

Edit: I see they mention the French woman in the article. Sometimes I read these sort of things I have to say “This can be done, but nothing can be done for my Crohn’s? You can give someone a new face, but I can’t have a new large intestine? You also can’t do anything for the extensive scaring on my stomach that makes some movements painful?”

Then again, I think it also creates hope for me. 🙂

Wow that is amazing.  It will be interesting to see how his face looks with time, I remember the French woman’s face started to look better with time.

@SweetRose2011: *nods* yup. hoping for a miracle myself. My large intestine is completely gone. If nothing else, I would love to get some help with the extensive scaring. It burns if I bend backwards to stretch my stomach scar is so stiff. Even if I have Crohn’s it would be nice to not look like I have it. I don’t need the physical reminders. 🙂

@MrsSaltWaterTaffy: Is there recent pictures on google of her? Last I saw she was very droopy in some spots. This new facial transplant already looks better than the ones I’ve seen before.

I think the REALLY great thing is that he can feel! Nerves are sensitive little things to work with and have been..I don’t want to say a mystery, but not something that was fixable for a long time. Even that is starting to be solved.

Also, these people have to take medication daily to prevent rejection, but if we could grow this from people’s own stem cell ( adult ones are item specific) or other ones that are flexible, the threat of rejection would be diminished. Cloning and stem cell research can be a good thing!
