I’m on an SSRI (prozac) for OCD. I’m wondering if anyone who has also been on an SSRI has either gotten clearance from a doc to continue on it throughout your pregnancy or if you switched to something else or just went cold turkey?
If you would also be so kind as to include your dosage if you are comfortable in doing so, that would be most appreciated.
Note: I am meeting with a psychiatrist to talk about this as well, but I just wanted to hear others’ experiences for reference.

Before getting pregnant I was on Prozac. I cannot recall the dosage. When I told my doctor my plans to TTC they switched me to Zoloft. My OB said I could not be on it …
My general doctor and my OB seen fine with Zoloft and said it’s one of the safest for pregnancy. I started at 150 and have slowly dropped to 100 and am hoping to stop at 50. I do read a lot and there are risks associated with using different medications – for me my doctor feels the benefits outweight the risks. I’d just be comfortable with a lower dose.

I took sertraline (Zoloft) for panic disorder throughout my pregnancy, and both my OB and my psychiatrist were 100% fine with it. I was on 100 mg/day. For me, the benefits outweighed possible risks.

I was on Prozac pre-pregnancy for PMDD (extreme PMS). 20mg per day (I think?) during weeks 3-4 of my cycle. Once I found out I was pregnant, I stopped taking it. I was a little worried that I would become “the demon” (as my husband likes to call it) that I am when not on it, but so far so good. I do have mood swings, but nothing out of the ordinary of normal pregnancy craziness I think.
I did start to get severely depressed when I was sick with morning sickness in weeks 6-9, and considered talking to my doctor about taking it again, but when the morning sickness went away, I felt happier again.
That being said, if I feel that I need to start taking it again, I will. I agree that benefits can outweigh the risks for many people.
