We went with the first option: we adopted our first puppy and are moving in together
It goes without saying that she’s adorable, but she’s also sweet and funny and so well behaved! When she’s meeting new people or new doggies, she’ll come sit down next to my leg or fiance’s leg and kind of peek around. Once we go over to the person or go pet the dog, she’ll trot over and get acquainted, then proceed to start playing (which includes swatting much bigger dog’s faces with her enormous paws!)She’s getting “sit” already, and is fully crate trained, but had two accidents this weekend, so we need to work on housebreaking (and on learning exactly how much water she needs – we joke that she has a drinking problem!)
I’m going to start taking her to my parents house in a week or so, but we wanted her to get adjusted to our house first so she’s staying there during this week. I take her out first thing in the morning, then give her breakfast, then she comes and snuggles on the bed with fiance while I shower and get ready, then I leave for work and he takes her out again before he leaves. He comes back during lunch, lets her out and plays with her, gives her lunch, puts her back in the crate, and then I come home earlier than usual to let her out again. Dinner and a walk are later when we’re both home.
She’s so good with fetch already! Sorry to be so gushy, but we’re in love!
I just wanted to update since I appreciated all the good advice and congratulations. Hive, meet Bailey (with Snoop, the roommate’s dog, in the second picture):
