- Wedding: August 2010
While I can’t say for sure, I can only imagine that this is one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. I can only compare it to how Ben Stiller must have felt meeting Robert Deniro in the epic film “Meet the Parents”.
My fiance (P-diddy) and I started our courtship long distance. The first time I met his parents was on the Jewish New Year of 2006. After we had finished dinner, P-diddy took me up to the attic to see some artwork that he had done when he was in high school. Well, normal people know what insulation in attics do – that fluffy stuff that frames most finished basements have.I, however, as a person who was new to attics at that time (I did not grow up with one) did not realize that if you stepped on the insulation, you would fall through the ceiling below. We were just exploring around the attic, walking around and seeing different antiquated artifacts. As P-diddy was going through a box of old artwork, I was straddling the finished and unfinished part of the basement. To my surprise, my left foot fell through the insulation and into his sister’s bedroom. I was SHOCKED. I did not move, squeal, scream or anything. Remember: this is the first time I had met his parents — what an impression I had made. The first time I came to their house, I broke it.
There were all sorts of jokes made about this mistake “When we met L-lo, she really put her best foot forward.” or the amazing one by my mom “Do you want me to foot the bill?” We are getting married in August, I know his sister is making a toast, and I know it will be awkward. HA
