(Closed) Meeting With Caterer Advice

I would mention your sisters wedding just for clarification.

Some things to ask for:

Do they charge extra for linens?

Is there a cake cutting fee?

Is there a fee for pouring champagne?

How many servers for how many people?

I’m sure there are more. But those were the first ones that I thought of

A $4 price increase isn’t that bad. Yes, prices for EVERYTHING have gone up. Gas prices have skyrocketed, which means delivery prices of probably all their stuff have gone up. There are so many things that can reflect a price increase. Maybe the cost of their product from their supplier went up, maybe their business license cost or insurance costs went up. I think it’s really unfair to assume that a business should keep the same prices forever. 

As for other questions, just clarify what your expectations are from them. Is this a plated or buffet? Do they include servers? Is the tip included or an additional cost? Do they provide bartenders?

I am so jealous of you…20 dollars i cant get any quote less than 80-100..that does include everything but it makes this phase of the planning so daunting for me. I wish you luck with your meeting with the caterer…Dont be afraid to ask for a better price or ways where you can save money…the caterer that i talked to offered me suggestions which was nice but only lowered the price about 400$ but when the final tag is 12,000 what is 400? So I am still looking for someone that I dont have to sell a kidney to have cater my wedding…good luck!!

 

p.s. we are doing cupcakes and the caterer quoted me 5$ a cupcake…the cupcake bakery down the street said they would do it for 2.50 a cupcake, so if you have to you can maybe add and subtract to what you need 🙂

Good luck! My only advice is to have an idea of what you want. When I met with my caterer, all I knew was we wanted “chicken”. I had no idea otherwise.
