- Wedding: November 2014
I didn’t think I’d have to write this post. I booked everything as far in advance as I could (1 year, Vegas destination wedding). Deposits were down.
So, to make a very long story slightly less long: had one wedding coordinator when we booked our ceremony/reception package. Changed our minds and switched to just a ceremony package and booked reception at restaurant within same, nice hotel. Deposits down, good to go. Assured all was well.
Fast forward several months. Coordinators change, assured everything is communicated to new coordinator. I have emailed back and forth with this new coordinator several times and she’s always been helpful. Decided to finally work on our worksheets today (aren’t due until 30 days before wedding that is 7+ months away) and email her another question. She calls me on the phone and seems puzzled, then tells me:
THE OLD COORDINATOR NEVER SWITCHED OUR PACKAGE IN THE COMPUTER even though she assured everybody she did (new coordinator included).
Which means that our time of 5 pm at the venue we chose is TAKEN. The invitations are printed and done. I DIYed them and was planning to send them out in July because it’s a Destination Wedding and I am on rotation until November for school working 50+ hours per week and unable to do much wedding stuff. I thought I was ahead of the game. Turns out the joke is on me. To boot, our reception was booked for 6-10 pm for our 5 pm ceremony time. Now, looks like we can still have the venue, but the time will be 6:30 or 7. Hoping that the reception time can be moved back without any/much added cost.
The coordinator was very apologetic and sweet trying to figure out a solution, and flat out admitted it was their fault and she was going to speak with her manager and see what she could do in terms of a discount for inconvenience and since I will have to reprint parts of the invites. I am already so stressed out right now, this is just icing on the freaking cake. The only good parts are that she caught it NOW and not later, and that we should get a discount of some sort.
I am just struck by the whole situation. I’m not even MAD, per se. I just want to yell “FIX IT!!” at the top of my lungs. Here’s hoping it all works out, and soon. I tried SO hard to get through this wedding planning without being a bridezilla or having a meltdown. I thought everything was squared away – guess not 🙁
Thanks for reading.
