I was going through my jewellery box and started notice that I’ve accumulated a lot of family jewellery over the years. I have both of my grandmother’s family rings, plus an onyx ring from my deceased aunt and a small collection of gold plated bracelets that I either inherited, was gifted, or found. Most of the jewellery is either completely not to my taste or broken/damaged in some way. I have considered having it melted down for a couple years, but I’m not really sure how it works.
Have you had jewellery melted down? Did it come out looking nicely? What were the applicable costs like? Did you regret it afterwards? Is it a better idea to save it for your future children?
