did you have a special song? Or is there a song he really liked?  You could dedicate it to him at the reception.

You could carry a pic of him (charm) in your bouquet

A photo of him next to a memory candle at the reception would be nice

you can get those in a lot of different places – Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, eBay, Etsy, etc.

My brother passed away unexpectedly 2 months before our wedding. We honoured him with a photo locket on my bouquet, a lantern on the licence signing table with what would have been his boutonniere beside it (since it was also close to where the groomsmen stood). We also, of course, mentioned him in our speeches and had our officiant mention him in the opening remarks to the ceremony.

@lorelai:  Can I ask how your officiant worded the remarks about your brother?  I want to do something like that to honor my Granddad.

I love the idea of the boutenniere in the lantern.

My dad passed away very unexpectedly almost 5 years ago. As the only girl, I know he would’ve loved to walk me down the isle. His favorite flowers were baby’s breath. I am going to have a bouquet of only baby’s breath for him.

@TwinABee:  Absolutely. The boutonniere was beside the lantern (since we had a candle lit for him in it). This is what our officiant said:

and

have not walked alone to this important point in their life journey. The love of family and friends … of you who are here today and loved ones who are not, including

’s brother

… have surrounded and supported them every step of the way. We acknowledge, remember and treasure this love on this happy occasion.”

@lorelai:  That’s worded so beautifully. Defintely going to borrow that.  Thanks so much for sharing!

@TwinABee:  My pleasure. We have our amazing officiant to thank for that. It’s such an important aspect of our lives (and ceremonies), so I’m happy to share.
