Hi everyone!!! We are getting married 5/28/17 which is the sunday before memorial day. We are sitting trying to figure out when we should go ahead and order STD’s (my brother is creating them for us) and send them out. I know its a holiday weekend so I wanted to make sure everyone has time but not be too late. Majority of people are from here but we do have some out of towners. Also, are you supposed to have your registry completed when you send out your save the dates? We have made a wedding website, would it be blah to put the website on the STD’s?
Lots of questions…. 😉

I’m putting my website on my save the dates and sending them out about a year in advance. I know that’s crazy early, but we also want to make sure to give people as much info as possible so that they can make travel plans and save up for the trip, if they decide to come.

I don’t think the registry has to be done until your first set of bridal shower invites go out! We put our wedding website on our save the dates and people seemed to really love having the information. We sent out Save-The-Date Cards 10 months in advance becuase we’re getting married during the holidays-ish and everyone has to travel, I would maybe take the same approach for the holiday weekend?

I’m getting married in June and we’re getting ready to order our save the dates. My goal was to send them out a year in advance but it looks like I’m falling a bit behind on that. I don’t think it’s too early to send them, especially with it being on a holiday weekend it will give people plenty of notice.
Regarding the registry, as long as you have it on the website, then no need to worry about putting it anywhere else until you send out shower invites. Shower invites and the wedding website are typically the only spots where registry information needs to be.

I am getting married on 5/27/2017 and will be sending out my STD’s in November, six months prior. I only plan on including my website on the formal invitation but then, I am not having a registry.

Save-The-Date Cards go out 6-8 months prior to the event. No need to have your registry done until your bridal shower invites go out (if you have one).

LoganElizabeth : Hi there…we are date twins!! I ordered my save the date postcards already but only because VistaPrint was having a major 50% off sale that ended last week. However, I don’t plan on sending them out until the end of September.
I did put our wedding website information on the postcards. There is a section for the registry listing on the site but I won’t provide links to the registry until sometime next year.

teambryan : awh!! it will be a good day!!! i feel like the same boat as you as not till end of september. I plan on traveling in the start of October so I think I want them out before then. 🙂

great weekend for a wedding! i’m getting married the saturday of memorial day weekend (5/27) and we sent our save the dates out in mid-july.. Fiance is very into planning, plus his whole half of the family would need to travel to get to the wedding, so we wanted to give people as much time as possible to make arrangements..
we didn’t have our registry set up when we sent them out, but we did write our wedding website on the back (it was a postcard layout) so people could get more information.
hope that helps!

I’m also getting married 5/27/17 and I thought because it’s a holiday weekend wedding I wanted to send out STD’s earlier than the average. So Probably towards the last two weeks of October we will be sending them out.
I personally think a year in advance is a little too much in advance but I also think it has to do with the size of your wedding guests and how many guests are coming from out of town.
A lot of FI’s family are already making arrangements and that’s just via word of mouth.
Registry will ill not be put on the save the date, I’m not even remotely close to registering or thinking about registering I’ll probably wait until February.
