I feel your pain…. I despise basketball.  I will watch baseball, soccer & Football.  I have always hated basketball.  I fall in love with …. sigh … a huge basketball fan.  The season is SO FREAKIN LONG.

At least this year his team sucks so we haven’t really had to watch a whole game.

@MrsToBeeMgn:  I get that… FH is a huge soccer fan (football for him, he refuses to call it soccer, lol). Especially the English and European premier league, which seems to be on ALL THE TIME. I guess like lots of typical American/Canadian guys are into basketball and football, he is a typical European guy who loves soccer. And if it’s on TV, he doesn’t want to be bothered.

At least we share a common love of hockey.

My birthday falls on the Super Bowl Sunday this year. The festivities are being cut short to make sure there’s enough time to catch the game. I don’t put much emphasis on birthday celebrations, but I was kind of hoping that there wouldn’t be an issue of deciphering priorities.

I’m so glad my husband doesn’t watch sports. Ugh to being a sports widow!

Ugh my husband can sit for hours watching the cricket, and I hate it haha. I’m not a sports person. We watch the women’s football together though.

If that’s what he enjoys and it’s not out of control, then no big thing.  Find something that you like doing by your self (or with girlfriends) while he’s watching basketball.

That being said, I’m a sports fan. Love love love baseball, enjoy college football and am fine with NFL.  DH is the opposite, he loves NFL,  enjoys some college football and tolerates baseball (mostly for me).  I’d be really irritated if he got upset about my watching a game that I want to.  LOL He knows not to even think about trying to control the TV during playoffs!  You will lose a finger or likely an appendage trying to touch the remote at that time.  Especially if it’s my team in the playoffs.

It’s all about compromise and balance though.  =)  I’d never expect him to sit and watch all 162 games with me.

Oh I LOVE basketball…I don’t think it would have worked out very well for me to be married to someone who hated it or was completely disinterested.

I like football too but I’m always a little happy when it’s over by January.  Then I get a little sad when April comes and I have nothing to watch until Fall.

All Darling Husband and I do on Saturdays is watch basketball all day and we watch it almost every night as well, at least a little bit!  Of course, I do run errands too and do household chores and cook/bake at the same time.  We put it on mute and do other activities like read or play games (him) at times.  But yeah, it’s usually on the TV Saturdays starting at 9 or 10 am.  It’s not just men!

It’s probably not going to change, so maybe find something you like to do during those times.  As long as he can compromise on things you’ll have to accept it.

Yuck, sorry you have to deal with that. The three guys I dated before Darling Husband were sports nuts. I didn’t have strong feelings about sports before them but they, one in particular, drove me to loath sports, especially baseball and the University of Michigan. I am so thankful that Darling Husband doesn’t watch, or give a damn, about sports!
