I’m trying to find Fiance some more button down shirts.
The standard “medium” size button down shirts are roughly equivalent to 15-15.5 neck and 32-33 sleeves. So this size is the pretty right in the torso area for him but the neck and sleeves don’t fit (too small/short). He really needs a 16-16.5 in the neck and 34-35 in the sleeves but this size always tends to be HUGE on him in the torso area.
Now, I know I can just get these tailored or sewn to take them in. But I’d rather avoid this entirely if I could.
Anyone know any good brands of extra slim/slimmer fitting mens button down shirts? Certain brands or styles in a brand that tend to be a LOT slimmer fitting in the torso area?
I’m not looking for anything too expensive (so $75 or less let’s say), because they are for work. He owns a bar/restaurant so he does tend to run around a lot in them and get them somewhat dirty (than one would working in an office).
Anyone? Since it is his bday in a month, I was looking to get him some.

my dh loves his ben sherman shirts. he always finds them at winners for a great price $30-40. i think tj max is like our winners in canada.
he also likes ted baker but i think they are a bit more expensive.

Some of the slimmer fitting ones are the more modern brands, such as Theory, Kenneth Cole, and Hugo Boss. They’re usually labeled as slimming fitting or modern fit somewhere on the shirt. For $75 or less a shirt, you can definitely find quite a few options. Macy’s often has them on sale, though they are not the cheapest sale prices. You can also get them at Nordstrom Rack and other discount retailers such as Loehmanns and TJ Maxx. I don’t even think it’s a hug deal to buy shirts from past seasons because unlike women’s clothing, they follow the standard palette of purple, blue, white and neutrals. I prefer subtlely patterned shirts over solid white or light blue ones because they’re more unique, though it is always good to have a few “normal” ones.

My fiance loves the Hugo Boss Slim Fit shirts, as well as Banana Republic Slim Fit. They can be a bit pricy, but if there are outlet stores near you, you can usually get them for a pretty good deal.

Thanks! I might have to go to the mall to look around. I’ve picked up some of the 16-16.5 shirts at a Kohls over lunch today and they definitely looked way too big! They were labeled slim fit
The only ones he really likes are a few from Express but they have been taken in (by his mother about 8 years ago!)
I don’t know how to sew, but I can go to my moms I suppose and she can show me how to do it if that’s what has to be done.
I didn’t know if anyone else’s SO had this problem and had some good ideas

@cb336: I do know of one Banana Republic outlet nearby! There is also a JCrew outlet there so it might be a good idea.

actually express carries fitted and extra slim shirts, so you might want to give it a try!
