It’s about that time to pick out a wedding band for Fiance, and we agreed to go to jewelry stores so he could try on some and figure out what he likes, and then it would be up to me to pick one and surprise him. Well we did that a couple days ago, and now I’m more confused than ever.
He really really likes the look of black tungsten rings, but isn’t crazy about how heavy they are. He tried on a simple white gold band and absolutely loved how light it was, but didn’t really like the way it looked as much as the tungsten.
Of course, I want to get him what he likes. So I’m wondering if there is a lighter alternative to tungsten, something more similar in weight to white gold. I’ve looked online a little and I’ve seen that ceramic rings claim to be much lighter than tungsten, and they are black. Has anyone gotten or tried on a ceramic ring? How does the weight compare to white gold? Is there anything similar or better that is black but very lightweight?

I wish I could help you but my Fiance ended up picking out a white gold ring. He says out off all the rings he tried on, he liked it the best for the look/weight. The only thing I’d worry about getting a ceramic ring would be the fact it’s ceramic. Maybe it’s different with jewelry, but when I hear ceramic i think of breakable dishes. I hope I’m totally wrong in this regard. Either way, good luck!

How about Titanium its suppossedly light weight can be dark:
Also a friend of mine got married last year and she got her husband a stainless steel ring. I think it had some weight to it though but I am not sure. I do know that they got off ebay for 7 bucks, people thought it was tungsten but it wasn’t it looked something like this:
I know nothing about ceramic rings but I know that could be potentially fragile and essentially the complete opposite of tungsten strength wise. I’d try the titanium and see how that goes.

Titatium is lighter than tungsten. I’m not certain about ceramic rings..I’d think they would have a tendency to be fragile.

If he likes the weight of gold and the dark color I would look into getting a gold ring plated in black rhodium …. Check it out there may be places that stock rings and if not find it already mase you can prob send one out to be plated in black as apposed to the white rhodium white gold is usually plated in… Same way gold comes in yellow, white, rose and even green they also have black gold and black rhodium ..
