Make sure they put the whole ensemble together to make sure the colors ‘mesh’ – we originally picked colors that we thought would look good put together, really didn’t.  Luckily, we went back and changed them.

We went with MW because they seemed to have the best prices for renting tuxes. If you have enough rentals, then the groom gets his rental free or a free suite. Also, if you can, swing by Davids Bridal because they have coupons to save on tux rentals!

What I loved about MW is that they could pretty much match my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses (that I got from DB).

Here is a picture of our bridal party with their tuxes:

If you attend any bridal shows, they have coupons for Mens Warehouse–$20 off each tux.  They are the best prices around here, but unfortunately their customer service isn’t the greatest quality…

My only suggestion, having worked in a tux rental store for two years (After Hours, the company MW ended up buying right around the time I left), is make them try on the tuxes the day they come in.  Call the store a few days early- the tuxes come in on trucks throughout the week, so there’s a possibility they could be there as early as the Monday before your wedding. If they’re there (and they don’t deliver in groups, so your groom’s might be there but the GM’s not, or vice versa), pick them up early.

DO NOT LET THEM LEAVE THE STORE WITHOUT TRYING THEM ON when the tuxes come in.  Every single piece.  Every button.  Make sure all the buttons are on, the cuffs are right, the shoes fit, the necks on the shirts aren’t too tight, the vests are the right color/size and the ties too, and obvs that there are no stains or tears.  Mistakes get made all the time. If they’re caught on Tuesday or Wednesday (or even Thursday, when you can pick the tuxes up for a Saturday wedding), they’re usually a pretty easy fix, because there are a couple truck runs in between finding the mistake and the day of your wedding, you’ll just have to make another trip to the store to pick the stuff up.  If no one catches it til the day of your wedding, you’re stuck with it.

@pinkfrog:  I totally agree!  Our best man had a button fly off for no reason like an hour before they were supposed to be at the venue (nobody told me, lol).  They called men’s warehouse on their way and it was fixed with no problem, but it made me wonder if he tried it on at the store beforehand.

But I do think our tuxs looked very nice ๐Ÿ™‚

@headoverhighheels:  Yikes I’m sorry you had so many issues with DB. I didn’t buy my dress from there, but the store here in Indy is actually pretty decent I have to admit. Which is why I went with my BMs dresses from there. And I think MW is the same as DB, as a company I think they’re fine, but its the individual stores that make the difference.  I do second the notion for everyone to try on their tux as soon as they get it! It makes sense, we try on our dresses as soon as we get them to make sure everything fits right, why not do it with tuxes?

We did Mens Warehouse, but we had a really bad experience with them. They had a promo going that if 5 Groomsmen rented, the groom either got a free rental or $400 of a purchase, so we bought his tux and the boys rented. All the rentals went fine, but when we went to pick up his tux on the tuesday before our saturday wedding…it had never been ordered. I went full tilt bridezilla and they did the alterations while we were standing there. It was a nightmare, AND they still charged us for alterations.

No one else I know has had a bad experience with them, though, so I think it was a fluke.
