We are going to have our groomsmen in the Vera Wang charcoal tux with no jacket from Men’s Wearhouse. I am questioning the shirt they selected however – it is just the standard tuxedo shirt in white and I didn’t really think about it till after we left but it was VERY see-through. Since the groomsmen will NOT be wearing a jacket and will only have a vest on, I definitely don’t want their undershirts to be seen through their shirts. I called to change it, however the lady from Men’s Wearhouse assures me I don’t want them in the white cotton shirt because they will be way too hot, and the sizes run small (though I’m not sure why that matters since they will be getting fit…). Has anyone else encountered this? I’m not sure what to do! Thanks in advance.

You have two options… get a better shirt is the first. This see through issue is probably an indication that this is a single ply poplin weave cotton or cotton poly blend. Based on the comment you got at men’s warehouse I suspect its a poly blend… true poplin can be cool but particularly if your wedding is October you will be fine with a nice cotton tux or formal shirt. Men’s warehouse is not known for their quality. Go look at a better retailer like brooks brothers or even Jos a bank. Not that Joseph a bank is high quality but they make a great dress shirt. Cotton is not that hot and this is comfrom someone who wears a button down shirt just about everyday at work usually with a jacket but none the less. Pinpoint and broadclothare less see through or a herringbone or end on end would be good but could be to casual for a wedding… avoid oxford cloth it is casual and can be warm.
Your other option is keep the shirt and get some white long sleeve underarmor compression shirts they don’t show seams and go all the way to the cuff. This may not be a cool option personally I would look at better less see through shirts.
Hope this helps best wishes

I would switch to the cotton for sure. Unless you want to plan something fun for their undershirts that you will purposefully have seen through the tux shirts since they won’t be having the jackets. That would be fun! (It’s what I would do, anyways.)
