๐Ÿ™  I’m sorry… they aren’t fun.  Try getting a long sock and fill it with rice.  Microwave for about 3-4 minutes until it’s hot, then wrap it in a hand towel and it will really help with your cramps.  Drinking lots of water will also keep you hydrated, which can also help with cramps too.

Excercise helps me – even just getting up and moving around…walk, etc.  Hope you feel better!

Aleve/ naproxen literally changed my life!  I used to have to worst cramps- I had to stay in bed and felt like I had the flu.  Now I am totally fine!

I always feel like a nice glass of red wine helps me, but you need to check what medications you’re using too because they don’t always mix.

If you don’t mind medication and you guys get it there, mefenamic acid is amazing. It both lessens the bleeding immensely and works quickly on the pain too (it acts on the prostgladins). My mother gets it for me (she’s an OBGYN surgeon), and I had the same issue – once I got off my pills and the depo wore off, my periods HURT and were so freaking heavy. And this is a life saver, seriously. ๐Ÿ™‚

@batwoman:  Agreed. There is something magical about the healing properties of red wine on cramps. It’s proven by my own professional science.

Otherwise, ibuprofen works. And for me, my stomach gets super sensitive when I get cramps and salty/spicy food makes me feel a thousand times worse. I recommend bland food (toast) and lots of water. Or red wine, whichever you have to move less to get to. And someone wrote on a similar thread the other day to rest with your laptop on your stomach – GENIUS!

@Dell79:  I think it must be the hive’s time of the month – I read your thread the day you posted and was struggling with the same problem!

@takemyhand:  Suggest it to them. And trust me, my mother wouldn’t give me ANYTHING that has horrific side effects, she’s very careful about what medication I take, and she’s more than happy for me to have this. Just don’t take it with brufen, because it is contra-indicated. Trust me, I was in agony when everything wore off, I was almost brought to tears and I HARDLY cry from pain. Mum made a trip to the hospital pronto, picked up a pack, et voila. Worked like a beauty ๐Ÿ™‚
