Your menu sounds great.  I would order the pork.  Not a fish person!

I would most likely choose pork over fish, and I would absolutely choose pork over salmon.  I think your Future Mother-In-Law is crazy, just because fish and meat are traditional options, doesn’t mean you have to have those options at your wedding.

I am actually thinking of picking a pork myself. I like it lots and would probably pick it over chicken. I think so long as you are having three options, pork is OK. However, if you were just doing two, then I would go red meat and a fish.

A ton of people hate fish, so I think pork is a great non-red option.  Your Future Mother-In-Law is being crazy.

I think you are offering plenty and this is from a person who is 1. allergic to fish and 2. does not eat pork.  You have a beef and vegetarian option, I personally never complain because I don’t expect people to go out of their way to accomadate me, If there isn’t a meat that I can eat I just eat the side dishes with the understanding that I’m an adult who is perfectly capable of feeding myself later if I’m still hungry.  Keep the options you have sounds like they would please both you and your fiance and appeal to a variety of guest.

If there was a fish I would definitely get that, if not I would go for the veggie. I personally find meat too heavy if I’m going to be dancing all night. On th other hand Fiance would for sure get the beef. My only advice is to think of your audience- i’m from New England, so we have to have fish at our wedding…

I think you have enough options. Maybe your Fiance can talk to his mom and explain the pork was his idea? If fmil won’t listen to me about something normally she will listen to Fiance.

I wouldn’t worry about it. If that is the menu you want, go with it. I love pork By The Way. We are having pork at our reception.

lots of people would eat pork.  and i’m not just trying to side with you – i don’t eat meat and have hated pork my whole life… even from my perspective i know that LOTS of people LOVE it!! it’s like the favorite meat for so many people.  and yea there are those who hate it, and they will just eat steak or the veggie dish.  you’re right on, she’s flipping over nothing!

It does seem really strange to me to serve pork if you have kosher guests. Even if the guests aren’t strictly kosher (obviously they’ll eat off non-kosher plates and food served from a non-kosher kitchen) having pork around, especially being prepared at the same time in the kitchen just seems weird. It’s not a big deal, but fish and chicken seem a bit more popular.

Well, I don’t eat pork but I think your menu options are fine, since you have a steak and veggie dish too! Maybe in your FMIL’s mind, pork is like, a lower-class dish or something compared to fish? Just a thought…
