We had to change our original plans so now I am looking for a new caterer. The restaurant that is providing our bar service also offers catering. He informed me that he could pretty much do anything, but I am not for sure what I want now. I kinda wish there was a menu that I could choose from I know so sad! I just hate the pressure of picking the perfect menu. He basically told me come up with three meats, three veggies, and three starch options and we would go from there. This really doesn’t help me with trying to figure out the budget especially since I would love to wow my guests with the food. Any suggestions from other bees that have had to create the menu?

Can you ask them what their specialties are? What the do best?
If you want to wow your guests then you want something that they are good at making.
Or ask if they’ve catered weddings before and what menus those other brides have used.
Also, there was a long thread a few days ago about wedding menus. I will find it and link to it so you can read a bunch of other brides’ menus for inspiration.

Luckily, I didn’t have to create my own or I would be in the same boat you’re in :). It might be a good idea to look at some sample menus from other venus to get an idea of what works well together? At least then you could have some direction!

They are actually a brickoven pizza restaurant so I started thinking Italian might be good with them. Its hard not to compare my other menu with this caterer though where I would have been getting two food stations.
@KatNYC2011: Good point I didn’t think to ask what other brides have done in the past. Thanks for the link!
@jo.lee: I really didn’t think coming up with my own menu would be an issue till I had to sit down and do it. I am just worried that I will break the bank on food which would be a big NO NO. LOL
