(Closed) Menus…are they necessary??

    Isn’t that usually included in the venue price? I don’t remember any of the places we looked at saying that was extra.

    I don’t see them as necessary. They can be elegant and useful if guests have not already chosen their entrée, but won’t make or break your guests’ experience. At least, as a guest, I’ve apprecited them when they’re there, but haven’t missed them when they weren’t. 

    Spend your money where you really want it!

    Menus are included at my venue. I dont like programs but I do like menus so I know what I will be served.

    They were included at my venue.  Since they’re not included at yours, I’d say skip them.  It should be okay!

    Do guests know what they’re being served beforehand (like, do they choose their option on the RSVP?)?

    Even if they don’t already know what’s being served, I don’t think they’re necessary unless you want them.

    @TwoStatesBride:  I’m super intrigued to hear how you are working this logistically. I REALLY want to do family dinner style.

    @hill22785:  If the meal is preselected you could just have one menu at the bar or as they walk into the hall. Or skip it. I am sure ti wouldn’t matter much either way.

    @hill22785:  I designed ours on the computer and just printed our own at home.  Our venue came with menu cards, buffet item cards, etc., but they were a little too plain for me.  It cost me $10 for 100 sheets of 70lbs weight, and I was able to print 2 menus (side by side) on each 8.5×11 sheet, so it cost me about $0.05 for each menu.  Here is the link to where I purchased my supplies paperandmore.com.

    Even though I don’t need a menu (we’re doing a buffet), I decided to make menus because it was an inexpensive way for me to add some color to my tables (chargers were too expensive).

    I dont think they are necessary at all.  We made our own and put one on each table in a $1 ikea frame.  They were a nice touch, but I don’t think anyone will miss them.

    I don’t think they are necessary, but I think they are a nice touch and add to the look of the table. I didn’t have room for them in my budget either, but I printed them up myself on some nice cardstock and they look great!

    We didn’t do menus… folks don’t have a choice! haha, if it’s in front of them, they’ll eat it.
