@Penelopethecat:  That one looks like it will be ok. I have seen some on four wedding were they make the girls waddle and they cant sit. I think your biggest issue is keeping it  up when you sit. Just be careful and dont gain weight!

It is very pretty and flattering though! (and I hate mermaid dresses)

It looks like it fits well now…have you tried sitting yet?  When I tried on dresses, they had me sitting down and walking around to see how it all felt (although I don’t have a mermaid gown).  I’m sure it will be fine!

I’ve heard that hiking it up a little around your bum before you sit (discreetly of course!) helps so that you can sit comfortably. Just practice sitting in it when it comes in! It’s lovely!

My dress was fitted similar to yours and I had no problem with sitting down. It’s only really a concern when someone has a dress thats fitted real tight all the way to their knees. then they can’t even shimmy it up to pee! But your dress looks like it will be fine. No point being concerned until it comes in. When you try it on again, try sitting and try pulling it up over your hips to see how easy bathroom breaks will be.

You look beautiful in that!  I also got a mermaid gown and it’s PRETTY constricting… I made the mistake of last trying it on after a family spagetti dinner and couldn’t really sit… yeah I would say I couldn’t sit… at all… soooooo I’m really skeptical also… BUT I tried on a sheath dress and even with a corset on sitting wasn’t the easiest so I’m just going to suck it up because I feel beautiful in the dress who cares if I can’t sit! lol… ?

@Penelopethecat:  I literally had this whole dress reconstructed bc I am busty and have a big butt and a small waste but a little pooch belly in the front lol. That being said, the dress was as comfrotable as a mermaid dress could possibly be, I was able to walk/stand/sit though not with as much comfort as my poofy reception dress (this was my ceremony dress). As long as you’re vocal with your seamstress as to your comfort in the dress with the alterations and don’t settle until it feels just right, you’ll be fine!
