I chose to wear a crinoline to add some volume to the bottom. It helped show off the lace on the skirt. Not the best before and after because the sample didn’t fit but.

I think the poof that the dress creates naturally is gorgeous already! I don’t think it would look bad with an extra crinoline  but I love it the way it is now. I also wore a mermaid dress. I was originally going to wear a crinoline with it but I decided against it at the last minute and I ended up loving the way that my dress looked.

ETA: Here are some picture examples…

With the crinoline (Keep in mind that this was before alterations so the dress wasn’t fitted to me and it was wrinkly)

And without on the day of the wedding…

I’m not a pouf girl, but it really will help shape the dress in a subtle way as long as you don’t get a huge crinoline. Case in point:

See? Super subtle.  Also, the crinoline will help you walk without getting the dress caught between your legs. Try it on without and try taking a few strides normally- not like you’re walking down the aisle (you won’t walk like that all day, right?).  You’ll see what I mean.

    I did this!

I really just felt like the crinoline gave the skirt so much more life, so that it didn’t just fall limp.  Your dress looks like it’s similar to mine, so I thought I’d share!

@pccl: I’m going to make a plug for David’s Bridal’s fit and flare crinoline – that’s what I wore on my wedding day, and I really loved it.  Also make sure you try lots of different levels of poof in crinolines so you get the full idea. 🙂

@JewishBride:Aw thank you so much 🙂 It was very “me.”

@pengoala:I second that. OP, if you do decide to go with a crinoline, the DB fit and flare one is great!

I voted to leave it alone. It’s a gorgeous dress!

I think the skirt on your dress is really interesting and doesn’t need to pouf.  It’s beautiful as is!

I always love crinolines. They add that extra oomph to a mermaid dress. Here’s my pic.
