It was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be! He was super friendly and gave us tons of info on what we need (paperwork and whatnot), what we need to do, he gave us info on what the classes and the “donation” will cost us. He is aware that we live together and didn’t really seem too critical about it. He gave us this book with different prayers and readings, as I am going through them, it is getting overwhelming!! I think that picking all of that will be the hardest part of the wedding!!! Overall though, it went great and I am excited!!

That is great to hear! Whew – one more thing checked off the list! (Well…minus all those readings and prayers you have to choose from…hehe!)

Was the book “Together for Life”? The best way to wade through all your choices is to put initials next to the ones you like the best, and see if there are any that you and your Fiance both initialled. Otherwise you’ll be reading through the whole thing several times over. 🙂

@dance: I know right!!! I’m glad we got that much taken care of!!
@jenbrandner: That is indeed the book! That’s a really good idea! Thank you! I even tried looking up a few prayers and readings online for a little more variety but it was all pretty much the same! lol

@chicklet1587: not to overwhelm you even more, but…you can go “off book” if you want. If you or Fiance have a favorite passage or verse, the priest is usually very willing to go with it. Mr. & I went totally “off book” & chose our own readings for all readings & consulted with our musicians for the psalms. It made our mass rather “personalized”. So feel free to choose what means most to you & Fiance. Good luck!

@ms.pascua: I have actually been looking in a few other places! for example, I have my great grandpa’s bible he brought over from Ireland it is 105 years old so I have CAREFULLY been looking through it! I would like to find something in there so it is a little more personal!

@jenbrandner: We did that too! I choose my fave and he choose his fave. Most we actually agree’d on, a few we liked different versions (the prayers)… We still BOTH have to decide which vows… We both don’t know which we like, haha
We also have to finalize the 2nd and gospel. I need to get permission on our Psalm since it’s “outside of the book.”

We are meeting with the deacon from our church on Wednesday and I am getting excited, albeit a bit nervous! Glad to hear your appointment went well. We don’t meet with our priest who will be officiating until next month. Hoping all goes well though 🙂

@chicklet1587: I felt the same way after we met with our priest. It actually got me really excited for our wedding! Althoug he said he doesn’t support couples living together, it wasn’t a big deal. Our priest was a teacher for many years before joining the Church so he’s pretty “normal” on alot of things. Lucky us!
Now to pick all the readings…yikes haha
