I have an intermittent nickel allergy. I have problems with earrings if I wear them for more than a few days in a row (without taking them out) and I once had a pretty awful reaction to a watch band. But since I was 12, I really haven’t had a reaction to things like necklaces or my watch (which I licked…it tastes like nickel-pie). My bf and I decided to invest in a 14K white gold ring to see if I could tollerate the nickel content, since platinum is quite a bit more expensive.
So I received the ring in the mail today and put it on. About 20 minutes after that, I noticed a metallic taste in my mouth. It’s light, but still noticeable. It doesn’t seem to mess with the flavor of foods that i eat, so far, at least. Can anyone tell me if they had this problem? Did it go away? My mother said she had a really cheap watch that made her taste metallic, but she liked it so much that she decided to “get over it” and just keep wearing it. She said that the taste eventually went away/she stopped noticing it. Any similar stories….? Please tell me it goes away… 🙁
