We’re not off the pill yet (5 months and 1 day, but I mean, I’m not excited or anything, lol). We’ll be using FAM, so I sure hope that your post gets some votes, I’d love to see how these differnet methods have worked for the hive.

@middleschoolsweethearts: I know. I would be done right now, except I didn’t want to risk any drastic weight gain/loss or skin issues, or having painful or unexpected periods on the big day. So the minute we say our I Do’s, I’m done 🙂 I’m so glad Mr.ND’s on board with the FAM/condoms plan and realizes how bad the pill can be.

Maybe your friends are a bit more conservative than my crew, but I know a bit too much about the baby blockers being used by my gal pals. LOL.

I haven’t gone off BC but when I do, I will be doing NFP like in Taking Charge of Your Fertility.  Would never do the withdrawal method if I didn’t want to get pregnant.

@middleschoolsweethearts: OOh, girl, I LOVE TYCOF! It’s great! Tons of info for trying to get pregnant or trying to avoid, and it’s a wealth of information re: how your system works.

Mr.ND was amazed with the new things I’d tell him every day as I read it. He didn’t realize how much pills manipulate your hormones and how my body would naturally work without them. I thought I was pretty up on how my body worked, but no, that book fills you in on how freaking crazy and awesome the stuff that goes on in there is. Totally worth getting the paperback off Amazon.

Never been on BCP, but have used FAM with condoms for 5+ years (with varying degrees of being conservative).  No babies here yet!

I just wanted to throw it out there that even if you come off BC there’s no guarantee you’ll get pregnant straight away…  I came off BC in February and even though we’ve been DTD like rabbits we still haven’t managed to get knocked up!

So yeah sometimes no contraception can be very effective contraception!

i read TCOYF and went off my BC in June. I have been charting on Fertility Friend. In the interim of starting to try (that is supposed to commence this coming spring) we have been using todays sponge during my feritle window. i was using a diaphram before but hubby could feel it. i must admit the sponge made me a bit nervous at first because it’s about 10% less effectie than condoms or bcp but now i am starting to see that it’s pretty unlikely you will be one of the 10%, especially if you are over 30 like i am.

I used NFP for a year after going off bc, and didn’t have any issues with it.  The great part was, when we were ready to start TTC, I already knew my body and my cycles and we got pregnant first try!
