I’m using snail mail, for a few reasons:
1. Paper stuff is fun!! I have Save-The-Date Cards from the few weddings I’ve gone to this year, and they’re in a shoe box along with Wedding Invites and Birthday / Christmas / Easter / Anniversary cards. They’re fun to look through 🙂
2. Emails get lost! Plus, it’s not as cute if I print it out and put it on my fridge as it would be if it were sent in the mail and I put it on my fridge.
3. I have an uncle that works for the USPS, so anything I can do to keep him in work, I will!!! 😀

Do whatever works for you. STD’s are a courtesy, not a necessity. The only reason Im doing any is because its a Destination Wedding. We only mailed 4 and the rest were given out at family functions.

Thanks for all the advice, bees.
I do think we’re going to go with mailing. I found a DIY that looks really nice, that I can print myself, and I was able to personalize it. I think we can float the cost of stamps (and support the USPS a little bit).
Interesting perspective from aspasia475! You might be right – although I certainly wouldn’t call my wedding the social event of the year, or even expect people to plan around it above all else. Probably 90% of our guest list is local, and I wasn’t going to do them at all until we started talking to people who asked about the wedding (and will be invited) and they started whipping out their calendars. We just thought it would be more of a courtesy as we’ve gotten so many questions.
