I went to a wedding in Mexico. The wedding was on a a private island called Las Caletas. We stayed in Puerto Vallarta. OMG it was AMAZING!!!! so beautiful! She spent less than her sisters who had comparable weddings in New Jersey and we all got a vacation out of it. So I would say well worth the money, She was not stressed like anyone else because she had used a wedidng planner in Mexico who took care of literally everything. I believe she used Vallarta Adventures.

Las Caletas was absolutely amazing and unforgettable. You should definitely look into it!

I didn’t get married in Mexico, but I had a Destination Wedding and I would not change anything!! It was definitely the way to go for us. Everything was so stress free and our guest had the best time! Destination Wedding get a bunch of shit on the bee, but I’ve never talked to anyone who went to a Destination Wedding and had bad things to say. In fact, everyone I have talked to (people who went to other DW) said that is the way to go and if they could do it again, they would have a DW! Good luck!

I don’t know how many guests you’re planning, but zika virus may be a concern for some of them.

I just had my Destination Wedding in Dominican Republic and I don’t regret anything!!

That being said—it was all planned via email.  I don’t speak spanish…and english is their second language so some things did not turn out exactly as I planned (flowers/colors were not what I thought).  But I told myself going in that was to be expected and to not sweat the small stuff.  No biggie!!

However—I second the Zika thing.  Might want to look into that a bit.

Regarding vendors—our resort had all their vendors they recommended (for flowers, photos, etc)…but we could bring or use others if we wanted.  There was a small fee for outside vendors.

I used the salon there to do my hair and makeup—and I will say…since my spanish is no bueno I simply showed photos of what I wanted to look like.  That did not go well.   BUT–I did have some time to fix it and I think I looked ok in the end.  (I just posted our wedding recap video on here).

We used a travel agency to help guests get discounts on travel.  So that might be something to consider too.

I did bring a photographer from Chicago because I wanted to have great photos.  I added on a video from the resort and loved that as well. The photos from the resort were so-so.

I brought a few favors with me and they set those up for me (no charge).

Everything else I chose from their wedding packages (meals, cake, etc).

Best day of my life!!!

I did my destination wedding in Jamaica and I loved it. I don’t regret it and it was completely worth the money. I would recommend a wedding travel agent to help out looking at locations and prices for you. I used Pam Gramling 305-283-3228, she is at no cost to the bride and gets the best deal with the most perks. I went to a wedding in Secrets Akumal and it was gorgeous; the food, the beach, the service.
