    @mrsedwardslpn:

As the daughter of a travel agent and avid traveler, I would definitely say Mexico.  My mom did a tour of both hotel districts extensively and was totally wowed by Mexico.

It influenced our own decision to go to Mexico for our honeymoon.  We booked Secrets Maroma Beach and are super excited.

I’ve been to the Bahamas a bunch of times, and maybe it’s gotten boring for me at this point, but I really don’t think it’s all that great.  What were you thinking of doing there?

@mrsedwardslpn:  We are going to the DR so that gets my vote!  I had friends who went there in October and loved it.

I voted Mexico. I would not go to the DR because LGBT rights are nonexistent there and it’s an issue that is important to me. If my gay friends couldn’t go to the DR safely, I don’t want to spend my money there.

We went to DR and it was the most beautiful place I have ever been (and I’ve been to multiple places in mexico and hawaii).  But honestly…. how can you go wrong with any of your choices??  🙂

    Depends on time of year.

During hurricane season- None of them . . .

Bahamas.  Mexico and DR are both super cheap all the time, so it will be easy to go back there later.  Bahamas is a more “luxury” island with typically higher prices.

Mr TTR and I travel a lot.

My choices on the 3 of these would be as follows…

    # 1 – Bahamas – GORGEOUS

(lol, as are ALL the Islands that begin with the letter “B” in the Caribbean)

    # 2 – Mexico -OK

    # 3 – Dominican Republic – NEVER AGAIN

    For the record…

DR, Mexico, Jamica, (and Cuba) tend to be the cheapest destinations in the Caribbean, and also where you’ll find the most All-Inclusives.  These Destinations are cheap… because they all have either sketchy political, economic or social issues (not the safest of countries).  Things to take into consideration when planning a vacation.

For further info, check your Countries Current Travel Advisories for Citizens usually the same folks who issue Passports (ie in the US that would be the US State Department Website and Travel Advisories for US Citizens Travelling Abroad).  All countries Governments have these Travel Advisories for their Citizens (ie in Canada it is the Dept of Foreign Affairs & Intl Trade)

    Hope this helps,

Considering the extreme poverty of the Dominican Republic, and the fact the people are still fleeing from there in droves, trying to sneak into Puerto Rico in boats that drop them off so far offshore that they have to swim for their lives (and many don’t make it) . . . I would say Bahamas might be a better choice.

LALaw:  Makes a good point as well in regards to Hurricane Season…

I personally won’t travel to the Caribbean… or Gulf of Mexico then.

Cheap travel, but it stinks to have your vacation ruined by a Hurricane (Travel Insurance IS A MUST)… but it sucks even bigger if you are on a small Island in the Caribbean and essentially stranded by your Travel Co. during such an event… no food, water, shelter etc., and cannot leave the island (stories like that every Hurricane).

Atlantic Hurricane season runs June 1st to December 1st… with the most Hurricanes (and BIGGEST ones) happening August, September and October.

    Hope this helps,
