I don’t know about Cancun specifically, but I was just married in Cabo and we incorporated the papel picado look as our sign in. I’ll post pic, but we basically made a little banner and guests could pull down the “flags” to leave us a note. We had this over the wedding cake. We thought about stringing up flags, but our wedding was a bit too modern looking to make it work.  But I definitely think its a super cute way to incorporate a little bit of Mexico into your decor. You can find them on etsy and can even personalize the flags.

Another idea is using little maracas on your table – either just as decor, favors or even place settings. We didn’t do this, but I’ve seen it before and it is sooo cute.

We brought little bottles from home and created lables that were made to look like tequila labels. We personalized them with everyone’s names and used that as the “place card.” They were filled with our signature drink, a purple margarita and the wait staff served them as people sat down.

Here are some pics from my wedding:

I basically love everything tanbarr’ posted… I think Maraca’s are fantastic favors for a Mexico wedding. I also love Papel Picado, but I think you have to be careful as I’ve seen it look AMAZING before (as in Tanbarr’s picture above) and then not so great… where it comes off more like a cinco de mayo party decoration.

I got married in central mexico and I had a hard time with centerpeices, so I basically went with local vases and bright flowers. It was simple but elegant and I felt fit the vibe of our wedding perfectly:

This wedding featured some of my most favorite centerpeices as well, taken from another Mexico destination wedding:
