We are planning on getting married at Dreams Cancun in June.  We plan to upgrade the room to the honeymoon suite to qualify for the free wedding, but my only concern is that the planning is not in my control until we actually arrive there.  I have read other posts and people say that communication between you and the wedding coordinator is almost non existant.  It makes me nervous to think about all of the possible added costs that I could encounter once I get there.  Does anyone have any insider info on pricing?  Also, is anyone planning a reception?  I’m not happy that there is a charge per person for the reception when we are already staying at an all inclusive resort.  Has anyone ever thought of just going to the restaurant after the ceremony and then going out?  I am also confused on how the ceremony is set up.  I thought this would be easy but it’s stressing me out!

@emmalou53: Hello! I’ve been planning my wedding at the Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa since April this year. I’ve booked the middle package for $2,199. So far the communication has been very good. There is a few days inbetween for reponses but I’ve been sent the menu and flower arrangements that I can choose from, as well they have sent me the wedding guide for the extra things that I may need. I have also booked the date, ceremony time and where the ceremony and reception will take place on May 8. I even picked the flavour of cake already!

It’s been pretty easy and stress free to be honest since we are only expecting about 20-30 people so the package pretty much covers everyone’s meal other than a few extra people. There are also ways to avoid added costs. Like for instance I bought some coral-orange organza chair sashes on ebay(50 of them for $31.00CND) where at the resort they charge $5/chair plus taxes. Plus the extra sashes can be used to decorate other things!

You can have the ceremony in 3 locations, the wedding gazebo, North Beach or South Beach. I picked the North Beach, cocktail hour at the North Jacuzzi and reception on the pool deck! Hope this helps you out! Talking with other brides a lot of them bring some of their own decor.. which can be an issue due to limited amount of weight you are allowed to bring on planes now a days but I plan to put things in a few other people’s suit cases aka my parents and fiance lol. Of course with their permission 🙂 If you need anything else lemme know!

I have been thinking things through since March -and have figured out what I want to bring to Mexico for decor.  I have been thinking creatively, and what I’ll bring is mostly fabric and paper and a few very small items.  I am so excited.  The all-inclusive resort is gorgeous, and my few little decor items will make it a little personalized!  Win-Win!!
