That depends on what you want to do. I am a HHonors member so I stayed on lots of Hampton Inns. I like Hampton Inns because they are nice as a Hilton but less expensive and with breakfast included. Those are my favorites in the Miami area:

If you want to party like a rock star: South Beach is the place. Not my thing. I never stayed there. It also will be most expensive hotels in the area.

If you want to enjoy Miami with lots of place to go walking distance or a short ride on the metromover (free monorail): Downtown Miami. I like the Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Brickell Downtown (http://www.hamptoninnmiamibrickell.com/). This hotel is like 1 year old with all what technology can bring to you. Downtown is also a 15-minute drive from SoBe.

If you are looking into some nice quiet time with your new hubby: Coconut Grove. It has CocoWalk to see and be seen without all the tourists from SoBe. Hampton Inn Coconut Grove (http://www.hamptoninncoconutgrove.com/) is the place.

Finally, if you just have a pit stop in Miami to go to one of many cruises leaving the Port of Miami at any day: Blue Lagoon area by the airport. This is a nice location close to the airport and Little Havana (for the best Cuban sandwich of your life). Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Airport South Blue Lagoon (http://www.hamptoninnmiamiairport.com/)
