I was wondering if any of you have had microdermabrasion done, and if so-has it helped?
I have alot of acne scars, large pores, and oily skin, but am determined to have flawless skin by my wedding day in May 2010. I also look forward to not wear as much skin makeup..
Are there any other treatments that help out with these skin problems as well? If you have had micro done, how many treatments did it take for you to see a difference?

Hi Clueless – I’ve had micro done on my legs actually – for some scarring I had from another skin issue. It worked great and lightened my scars tremendously. I think I went about 7 times.
I’ve never had it done on my (acne scared, oily) face though. My skin specialist prefers to do chemical peels to treat those issues. It works really well and I’ve already seen a difference in my skin after just one recent treatment (I’ve had them in the past but never did it consistantly like I plan on doing now).
I would find a trusted skin specialist that offers a varied amount of treatments so they can do what will work best for your skin issues. It might be micro or a peel or a combination of both.
You should also make sure you’re drinking lots of water, using SPF every day and moisturizing morning and night!

I am actually going in for a appointment this afternoon to determine mt skins fate! I was thinking of Microdermabrasion, but have also heard of laser photofacials, as well as wonderful things about IPL photofacial (they might be the same thing?!) anyways I will get told what the best is for my skin etc etc…
I will let you all know how it goes!

@clulessBride – So I had my first series of ‘face treatments’ on Saturday here is what I endured ;)I started off with getting the crystal microdermabrasion – which made my face sooo smooth! it felt like butter! (but felt like a cat licking my face over and over ha ha)I then had the IPL photofacial which consisted of some sharp hot flashes to my skinthen had the cold laser photofacial, it stung at first because she applied this gel over my face that was obviously a little sensitive after the microdermabrasion, but calmed down after a minute or two, then was very very relaxing!Over all I have notived a significant difference in my skin! my Fiance noticed as soon as I got home, he was like "Ooooh your skin is so smooth, and you have no pores!" ha ha I had some dark ance scars that seemed to be alittle faded as well! I cant wait for my next 3 treatments of all 3 of them again!
My last treatment falls in August (as I am doing them once a month) so the lady I am working with said we will do the microdermabrasion at the beginning of Aug so there is no sensitivity or isses.
I can keep you updated on my progress – PM if you would like as well! 🙂

Keep us updated on this. I use obagi products and they work great but take time.

A friend of mine that is a cosmetic surgeon recommends Obagi.
I am currently using Skin Ceuticals which I love.
I’ve had three microderm treatments so far, two DiamondTome and one at the dermatologists office with crystals. Hard to say which was more effective. Both places also do gylcolic peels. I have yet to do one, they wanted to know how my skin would react, since it is sensitive, before they doubled up the treatments.
I’ve been reading a lot about Isolaz, anyone have experience with this?
At my last appointment I asked about a heavy duty chemical peel, well not heavy, but not gylcolic which is pretty gentle. I am thinking beginning peel, one that takes about 1 to 2 weeks recovery. I see the results and it seems amazing. Perhaps my smile lines and acne scars and age spots, more like a few more freckles than I would like. The FH says he prefers me getting micro as opposed to burning my face. I say if I am going to spend $800 on 6 treatments I want to see real results. So, I might after the wedding, I know, ,how weird is that? have a chemical peel and see about using Obagi since I hear it is amazing.
