Mall of America in MN. Also if you want to go to a zoo, do not go to the state zoo. Not worth it. They do have another one (forgot what it is called) and it is fabulous!

There is TONS to see in SD. It depends on where in SD you go though. I like Wall Drug (huge shopping town), Deadwood (casino town but they have a really fun mini golf course), and Storybook Island and Storybook Land. Again, it depends on where you go and what you want to see (museums, old houses). My absolute favorite in SD is a Christmas store right next to Old McDonald’s farm.

I’ve heard Wisconsin Dells is a blast and Chicago, IL has some great museums! My Fiance says that Giordano’s pizza in Chicago is thee place to find amazing Chicago-style pizza.

Have fun! 🙂

No no to Giordano’s. Go for Lou Malnati’s or Gino’s East here in Chicago. We have some amazing museums though as previously stated.

I think Devil’s Tower and Crazy Horse are in South Dakota too and worth seeing! There’s a great brewery in Wisconsin south of Madison in the town of New Glarus called New Glarus Brewery http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/, get the “Spotted Cow”! NE and IA there isn’t much. You can stop by the Archway at Kearney, NE and go through that, it’s pretty neat! http://www.archway.org/

You have to go to WalDrug. It’s one of those places you have to see to believe. I don’t think I actually bought anything there but it blew my mind just to wander around.

@jpalm13:  Don’t come to Chicago this weekend there is a NATO summit and everything is pretty much shut down and streets are blocked off.

@LiliKitty:  I 2nd Malnati’s! Darling Husband and I try to hit that up every time we are in Chicago!

The New Glarus brewery is popular, The Dubuque/Galena area in the corner of IL/IA is really pretty and a lot of people like to hit up Galena for the history and little shops. If you do decide to go there, I can give you lots more info – I grew up very close to the area.

To be honest, most of Iowa/Illinois are pretty boring (I can say that, I’ve lived in both!) And most of NE too, sorry!

It really depends what all your interests are!

@megz06:  Lol, don’t get me wrong… Giordano’s is tastey, but it’s not the best best. Gino’s is my second favorite (Lou’s being first), but it’s a great experience for tourists because their walls are completely covered in guest’s writing so it’s what I always recommend. I could totally go for some now. Mmm.

Are you going through northern or southern Illinois? If you are doing southern there are lots of outdoor things to do.

@jpalm13:  as much as I loved my time in IA, I think you’ll like the northern route better. Depending how far toward central WI you go, Devil’s Lake State Park is very pretty as well.

But I think you sound like the types that would really like Galena!
