With four weeks left I need to pull the trigger on a middle name for Leland:
Leland Colby Jackson
Leland Colton Jackson
Leland Chase Jackson
Leland Sawyer Jackson
Leland Oliver Jackson
Or other ideas? No Henry/Edward/etc type.
Additional details if they matter:
My name: Jasmine Michele
Fathers name: Jason Lee
Sons name is Ryatt Elijah
(with the family drop-away louis. Ryatt Elijah Louis)
Lelands family drop-away name is Calvin. It’s not super important to mesh well with Calvin as it’s not used usually but it’d be nice if it sounded okay.

I don’t know why but when I read your title “Carter” popped into my head.

@PixelMePretty: What is a drop away name?
I thought of “James” right away but I’m not sure how it goes if your last name starts with a J… Leland James I like the sound of though!

I like Colby the best, but I think Sawyer sounds the best with Calvin!

I think Colby and Oliver sound the best, just with syllables and consonant sounds. Colton sounds too much like Jackson, and Chase just doesn’t flow for me.

@PixelMePretty: ohhh, can you explain a “drop away” name? I love learning!!! Lol
Ps,I love Chase

@weatherbug: I also thought of James right away

I had a friend growing up who’s name was Leeland Meeker.

Definitely Oliver. The repeated “l” sound in each of the names makes it flow really nicely. I thought Colby was your next best option, but frankly, I don’t like the name. And when you mentioned the drop-away name, it would be two “C”s in a row and I think that makes it sound too harsh. Leland Oliver Jackson is a great name for a little boy.

Is a drop away name the child’s last name?

I thought Paul before I read your post. I think it should be single syllable to flow right, so I voted Chase.

I love a lot of these suggestions, I really love Leland Carter. I have a thing with C names!
Leland Oliver Jackson is cute too. It’s so hard!
His middle name was going to be Lee, but now his name is Leland so Leland Lee is kinda weird.
A drop-away name is a second middle name that’s rarely used. In my family it’s given to honor a family member. So my sons name is Ryatt Elijah Louis Jackson lol. It’s a mouthful I know, but the Louis is my grandfathers name. And on almost all forms/when saying his name It’s Ryatt Elijah Jackson, Ryatt E. Jackson. It drops away.
So it’s not super important that it match well as it’s not really used. Calvin is FIs fathers name.
