daniellemc :  congrats bee! Bumping this for you as it was caught in the spam filter.

Personally I like Laura Autumn better than Autumn Laura, but I love the name Autumn (we have a bee here by that name too!), so I’d go with your version.

It will be beautiful either way, very happy for you!

Congrats, Bee!! I’m so excited for you! I do see why you think that Autumn Laura sounds a bit odd paired together, but I think the significance and what it would mean for your family is more important. I agree with BalletParker that Laura Autumn flows a bit better, but you’re also right in that middle names are rarely used.

You could try a form of Laura for a middle name, such as Autumn Laurel or something along those lines. What about Laura’s middle name? Could that be used as a middle name for an Autumn?

I like Autumn Laura! Not really a fan of the double “a” sound you get with Laura Autumn, but it’s not terrible by any means either.

I agree that Laura Autumn flows nicely. I’m always a proponent of meeting baby before 100% finalizing names though. So my advice would be to not worry about it too much until LO arrives.

I really like Autumn Laura. Marie sounds nice too, but if you just gave me both of those options at face value, I’d still pick Laura. 🙂

Congratulations!!

Autumn Laura is nice.  I would say if you have a two syllable last name with the same emphasis the flow is not ideal, e.g. Johnson, Miller, but it’s still not terrible and it’s nice that it honors your mom.

daniellemc :  Love Autumn Marie! That sounds beautiful, and it’s sweet because it’s also your middle name.

daniellemc :  I think Autumn Laura with a three syllable last name is perfect (and I like it better than Laura Autumn FWIW).

I think that the meaning behind a middle name is more important than the way the whole name sounds together. They are both important, but I agree with you that middle names are a nice way to pay tribute and that they are rarely used in life, so why worry about how it sounds? It definitely doesn’t sound bad, there might be options that flow a little better but without the meaning what is the point? You could do Marie though, it would be a bit of a tribute and a nice tradition to carry on, three generations with the same middle name 🙂 or you could have two middle names, Autumn Marie Laura LastName, if that sounds nice with your last name!

nordiclight :  I agree having a middle name that’s meaningful is way more important than a name that flows with the first name. And it sounds nice anyway!
