As I am a bit bored, thought I would throw something out to the hive for opinions.
I am due baby 2 in Jan and we are team yellow. We have decided on the name Frederick for a boy (likely shortened to Freddie or Rickie, but we like to give the full name rather than the nick name)
We are at an impasse on middle name. Our oldest is a boy who has the middle name Thomas after my husband. Which of the below options do you think is best.
1) Frederick Roger (Roger is my dad’s name and it would mean the world to him for me to do that)
2) Frederick Francis (Frances is my middle name so it would be a way to have the baby named after me. If we have a girl she will have my first name as a middle name)
3) Frederick Thomas (hubby’s favourite – I think it is weird for two brothers to have the same middle name.

I agree with you that it’s weird for the brothers to have the same middle name. I would go for Frederick Roger becaust it’s still coming from your side, but would mean a lot for your dad. Middle names aren’t used much, and I would love the opportunity to honor a close family member like that.

I like Frederick Roger – I don’t like the FF for Francis, and there’s so many names in the world why have your sons share the same middle name.

Roger is my favorite! Francis is nice, too! I’m not a fan of Thomas, I agree that two brothers with the same middle name is weird.

I agree with PP on Frederick Rodger, as I’m not keen personally on both names starting with the same letter, or both siblings sharing a middle (and last) name. And it would be a lovely surpeise for your dad!

I love Frederick Roger, especially with the sentimentality behind it.

Thanks all – gives me some fuel to my argument. My favoured is Frederick Roger and it would be a surprise for my dad.

Your dads name definitely.
I know a quad sibling set that all have the same middle name. But, it’s their mothers maiden name. If Thomas is just a random middle name (not even a family name) it’s super weird to give both of your sons the same middle name lol

mrscb2bee : the only time I’ve known siblings to have the same middle name is a situation like that, where it is one parent’s surname. This would just be husband’s first name.
I should point out that Frederick was his great great grandfather’s name too and it will have his (our) surname so it would be a complete ‘him’ name if we did Thomas.

Roger, honor your dad, hubby already gave his name to son #1. Spread the love around. 🙂
